two recorded centuries when there has been no signficant declaration with a year ending in a 9, and that makes the odds of no '9' years come out at something less than 1000:1 Assuming a constant declaration frequency of one-in-four, the probability that there is a digit such that, over two particul...

Re: Advice please Gentlemen
the total exclusion of '9' years - try working out the probability of that happening by chance Let’s assume that each year has a one-in-four chance of being declared, all years identically independently distributed. Then the probability that, during some particular century, no 9s are declared is (3...

The good ones have little nose and are very light, but delicious with a soft mouthfeel. Some are rough.

Re: Encoding Issues
Maybe nicely asking Chief Admin to upgrade from 3.0.0 to 3.0.2 will fix it. Maybe.

Re: 1991 Croft
1991 Croft: full red, no brown. Smell odd, but nice: stewed rhubarb. Mid-palate roughness. Fades, then returns, to produce late heat. A vegetal something throughout the nose and palate.

Re: 1977 Croft
1977 Croft: Brick red. Very soft, a little heat, extremely long. Later I though nosing of meat beef. ‟Tastes of port”, I wrote. Utterly lovely.

Re: 1994 Taylor
1994 Taylor: purple-black, nosing of plums and stewed fruit. Hot mid-palate. Fades, then re-appears, to good length. Needs time. With chewing showed very big tannins, and showed them earlier than the F94.

Re: 1985 Taylor
1985 Taylor: Lighter than the F85, being red rather than black. Initial attack shows much heat, then a big long length. Very very long. very strong mint aftertaste.

Re: 1977 Taylor
1977 Taylor: mostly red, almost brick-red. Mint or eucalyptus in nose. Much hotter than the Croft 1977, and bigger, though not as long. I prefer the Croft 1977.

Re: 1994 Fonseca
1994 Fonseca : purple black. A little heat mid-palate (less than the T94), very long and consistently-flavoured during that length. Needs so much time. very tannic. Very big wine indeed. Great wine, which might be ready in my lifetime. Interesting that the lodge tastes from US-labelled bottles (Kob...

Re: 1985 Fonseca
1985 Fonseca : just like Fonseca 1985. Purple red, nose and taste of stewed young plums, and just too young. Huge. Wait! Interesting that the lodge tastes from US-labelled bottles (Kobrand Corporation). So instead look at this picture of twenty-seven Imperials (six litres, eight-bottle bottles) of ...

Re: 1970 Fonseca
There is a God. And even if there isn’t, he is still merciful.
1970 Fonseca: Reddy brown. To taste my notes seem to have omitted the nose incredibly long. Mature beautiful port. I have had bigger F70s, but never longer. SLT said ‟elegant”. Older-tasting than the F70 at the F-plan.
