1995 Ferreira: very purple. Nosing strongly of alcohol, flowers, and youthful black fruit. To taste young black fruit, rich plums, and blackcurrant. Fine, but too young.

1985 Ferreira : apparently multiply filter, but despite that cloudy complexion. Nose as faint as the ’77, though some red fruit that could have been cranberry. 1977 Ferreira: hint of brown. On the nose heat, and faint sugar. Pine, thought I. ‟Herbal component”, said another. Then JHG concluded ‟sap of a pine tree”. To taste a delicate start, a little heat mid-palate, and great length. Light but silky-soft port. Lovely. Very Portuguese style.
