Dates are Thursday 18th April 2024 & Friday 26th April 2024 from 6pm.

Re: 1966 Gould Campbell
vibrant garnet with ruby highlights. There is a faint minerality to this port that I quite like. On the palate fig spoon sweet and cherry notes with hints of sweet spice. Sweet with medium acidity and the tannins now resolved. Medium finish without much persistence. If the acidity was a grade higher...

Re: 1966 Noval
Delicate nose of candied apple, cola and hints of milk chocolate. Sweet on the palate, good depth of flavour with cinnamon and clove spice. Medium+ finish. A very good port that did not make it to top grades this time due to lack of complexity and persistence on the finish . 89/100. Tasted 12/09/2023

Excellent evening with lovely ports and great company. Thank you to everyone that worked to make this happen, you know who you are!
I think Mike has perfectly summed up the evening above. I shall add some tasting notes shortly.

NV Quevedo 10-Year-Old White Port
Deep golden/ pale amber colour. Intense aromas of marmalade, beeswax, dried mango, apricot jam, walnuts and hints of liquorice spice. Sweet on the palate with mouthwatering acidity balancing the sweetness and intensity of fruit really well. Long finish. This is fresh but layered. A very satisfying a...

Medium garnet colour with vivid ruby highlights. Layered nose of dried red cherries, prunes, dried figs, hints of orange peel, damson jam and raisins. There is a beautiful array of spices, cinnamon and clove but also fennel seeds and aniseed, hint of smoke here and there, coffee beans and a certain ...

Re: 1992 Burmester
A little cloudy, perhaps some powdery sediment dispersed in the wine. Aromas of coca cola, star anise, candy. Quite sweet on the palate with the alcohol standing out creating a little imbalance. The finish was medium+ though which is a positive trait. An OK port, just good without too much complexit...

A little TCA masked the fruit and the aroma components of this wine. If you look past this, it could be good. Tasted 06-Apr-22.

Deep garnet with fabulous nose of black cherry, liquorice, plum, menthol, and further development notes of cacao, coffee and wet soil. This has a pronounced aroma intensity and a real depth of flavour. Very well balanced acidity against the sweetness that makes you want to sip again and again. The t...

Deep garnet, with intense aromatics such as black cherry, hints of blackberry jam, star anise, mint, cranberry. Some perfume on the nose too. A sweet palate with high acidity, smooth tannins and a long finish. Great stuff, would like to try it again at some point in the future to see its development...

I liked the intensity of fruit on the palate however I found the nose a little closed. Fruity, with cherry, cranberries and prune and a medium+ finish. Very OK, just a little closed on the nose. 89/100, Tasted 06-Apr-22.

Initial impression is hmmm...strange.. with plenty of aromas, albeit unidentifiable! Cherry notes, bell pepper, star anise, tea, menthol, cinnamon and dark chocolate. On the palate its high acidity balances the sweetness nicely. A long satisfying finish with flavours lingering on the palate. I can s...

Prune, damson jam, black cherry jam, hints of citrus fruit, watermelon, mint, bell pepper, it is fresh and somewhat mineral on the palate with its high acidity beautifully balanced against the sweetness. The tannins are smooth and the palate is packed with flavour. Long finish with the plummy, cherr...

Nice nose, kirsch, tea, damson jam, plum and prune. I would have liked a little more acidity to balance against the sweetness however the finish is medium plus long. Not bad, in fact a very good port. 89/100
