Rare Riojas

Thought I’d share this as suspect will be of interest to some viewers...

Laithwaites / Sunday Times Wine Club currently have an offer of rare Riojas which includes Paternina Gran Reserva 1964, and some other interesting wines from 70s and 80s.

Re: Not the VE Day Tasting - Mon 28 Sep

Any other interest in this?

I think Harry is a potential, but if it's only 3/4 of us then I'll just book a normal table.

Not the VE Day Tasting - Mon 28 Sep

I’ve still got the Lutyens Room booked at 67 Pall Mall on Monday 28th September and we are allowed to have this with a maximum of six people.

Who wants to come out to play?

Suggest blind and bring whatever you like.

Caroni 1974 Bristol Classic Rum

Discussed at Virtual Tasting #11, where I mentioned that a bottle might be available for sale. Apparently 1,500 bottles were released in 2008 (which would be around the time I purchased from Bordeaux Index). Two bottles were sold on rumauctioneer.com on 14/9/20 for £675 each. My unopened bottle pict...

Invite on way. Does anyone have a clue who sent the invite for 6pm? It is a forward of the invite for our previous virtual tasting, with the date changed.
Not me Guv.

Victim for this evening now selected. Have gone slightly avant garde in celebration of glorious weather.

Warre's Otima

In the current Cellar Defenders thread JacobH makes mention of Warre's Otima Colheita.

I was aware of, and have tried, the standard Otima 10 and 20, but had missed the '95 and '06 Colheita releases.

Has anyone tried them?

If the 2020 Olympics can happen in 2021, then Warre’s birthday can. So I agree.
An excellent point. 2021 it (probably) is then.

@ nac - Thalabert, but of course! I have almost run through my halves of 2014, I have just taken delivery of 36 halves of 2017 purchased EP from TWS... Another excellent non-Port cellar defender (also from The Wine Society) is Chateau Beaumont. Regularly buy a couple of cases of halves, and had a 2...

Re: VE (etc) Day Tasting - Mon 28 Sept (maybe)

Assuming we can't do this as planned for 8+, do any of the planned attendees (up to 6) fancy making use of the booked venue for a general session of Port consumption & witty conversation, etc.?

It's already in diaries so seems a shame not to...

Re: VE (etc) Day Tasting - Mon 28 Sept

There are two options: (1) Delay the tasting until we are allowed to have 14 people together once again; or (2) Hold the tasting in 2-3 instalments, each instalment of no more than 6 people (all of whom are willing and able to leave when the B&F is required to close at 10pm) In either case, please ...

My current Port defender is Justerini & Brooks Directors Tawny. Working through a half case and another nearly finished bottle is in my fridge under VacuVin.
