2020 Churchill
The Churchill Port Club pack 6 (summer 2022) contained a half bottle cask sample of the soon-to-be-released 2020 vintage Port. I loved the innovation of being able to present the wine to consumers in the UK market. I tasted the cask sample over a number of days and consolidated my thoughts into the ...

NV Andresen White 40YO (bottled 2021)
Occasionally it is nice to have something special - especially at the end of a hot day, working in the garden in the heat - and when Laithwaites make it so easy to buy one of these from their local store. Bottled 2021. Deep apricot in colour; intense dried tropical fruit on the nose; mango puree on ...

NV Andresen White 10YO (bottled 2021)
Another off-the-shelf purchase from Laithwaites on a hot summer's day. These are just too easy to buy and drink when the weather is warm. No detailed note was taken for this specific (50cl) bottle but it was noted that the wine paired wonderfully with a home-made blackberry meringue pie and a melon ...

NV Andresen White 10YO (bottled 2021)
Bottle filled in 2021. Purchased off the shelf from Laithwaites during the summer heatwave when a cold white Port from the fridge just seemed to be what was needed. Surprisingly harsh on the palate at first, but the harshness faded to allow a warm and sweet apricot Port through on the plate and afte...

Launch of Sandeman 50YO Tawny
On August 12th, Liberty Wines (who are the UK agents for the Sogrape range of wines and Ports) announced the launch of the new Sandeman 50 Year Old Tawny. The press release read: Sandeman launches 50-Year-Old Tawny Port Sandeman is delighted to announce the launch of their new 50-Year-Old Tawny Port...

I have arrived in London a little early but have found some entertainment more enjoyable than in St. John’s Wood — where I note it is a Surrey man leading the way.

Re: Port from the fridge
Any other suggestions as to why I try once this bottle is finished would be appreciated! Why? because you love port of course! Good catch. Posted on an iPhone my fat fingers or autocorrect wrote the wrong word. Hopefully it should clearly have read “what”, not “why”. n.b. while I have the pedant ha...

That is a brilliant tasting. One which I am sure has never been done before outside Portugal.
What a great idea Axel!

Port from the fridge
Despite the heat, I’ve managed to keep up my Port consumption. Last night I discovered that Churchill Reserve is a lovely, fruity drink when fridge cold.
Any other suggestions as to why I try once this bottle is finished would be appreciated!

Re: Three-word places to drink Port
mature.vintage.port is on the bleak Arctic coastline of Russia but love.vintage.port is Saskatchewan, Canada. Canada also have bottled.vintage.port in Manitoba. Not far away (in continental terms, at least) is pass.port.left in Michigan. But one of the best I have found is happy.port.magnum in Sici...

Although Vesuvio didn't declare in 2002, there were others who did - like Cavadinha, Noval Silval, Roeda and Vargellas.

Encostas de Provezende / Quinta dos Espinheiro
Jacob,
Here you recently posted a tasting note on a Port from a producer I've not encountered. Assuming they are still going and in the same place as they were when you visited them in 2014, where is the shop and / or Quinta?
Thanks,
Alex

Re: 1966 Graham
This was JDAW’s thoughts on the wine:
G66, d+5½h. Glorious red, 40% opaque. Nose of mature Port, with a hint of dark plum. Palate soft and full and lovely; coffee early; slight heat mid-palate; start to finish is an unctuous large fully mature Port. Really good.

Re: 2016 Quinta da Corte LBV
It is the same Quinta da Corte as was owned by Delaforce. I’m writing this from memory so please check independently, but I believe around 2000 Delaforce and Quinta da Corte were owned by the Fladgate partnership. At some point the Delaforce brand was sold to Royal Oporto, who used (and may still be...

Re: TPF awards ceremony
Yes please, put me down for a place.
How about a category of “most prolific organiser”?
Or “best venue used by TPF”? It would be nice to invite Gary and / or James Davy to a tasting to accept their award.
