I like the idea of being able to buy a “tasting case”, especially if it’s relatively easy to add to the case contents - with a bottle of Vesuvio 1989, for example.
Anything which makes life easier for enthusiasts like us is a great idea.

Re: Hello from Porto
Hi Paul, Can I offer a recommendation for your continuing Port education? LaDo wines is a small wine shop / wine bar set up by a group of 5 or 6 smaller producers. Most of their wines are available at the shop by the glass or bottle. If you go there on a day when Maria is looking after the shop, she...

Re: 21st birthday port — 2018 and 2019
Hello John, I echo Jacob’s advice on your selection of Porta from 2019 — be patient for a month or two more and you may well have a wider choice. I also beg to offer a different view from your experience of a major Port house’s effort being unable to be ready at age 21 and still developing in its 30...

The date of Wednesday 28th April has been suggested as the replacement for our postponed meeting in February.

I can confirm that Poças Junior and Poças wines come from the same producer. Poças is simply the modern choice of brand; Poças Junior having been retired a few years ago.

I notice there are also 4 lots of 11/12 bottles of Cabral 40YO Tawny in the sale which look, to my inexpert eye, as though they were bottled in the 1960s. I don't intend to bid for any of these lots, but if someone buys one of the dozens and would like to share the lot with others, I would be inter...

Tue 16 Mar 2021 - Churchill Port Club meeting
Tonight at 6pm there is a live Zoom conversation / tasting with the team behind the Port Club where they are taking club members through the contents of the first Port pack.
Are we interested in a follow-up session after the official Port Club chat?

I reconfirm. Can I suggest that we adopt the approach taken for the Croft Vertical held in Boston on 8th February 2008 ? For that tasting each person was asked to contribute one "old" bottle and one "young" bottle (of at least 21 years of age), each in good condition with good colour, high fill and ...

Re: 1871 Cabral Port
I don’t know much about this Port, other than the fact that there is plenty of it around. I’ve had it a couple of times and it’s very nice, but not in the same class as Scion or the Krohn / Taylor 1863 or the Mourão 100 year old.

Alex is that the reason she opened the T70 yesterday afternoon? It might be very wise to take the hint and get yourself down to Morrison’s fast and pick up a few dozen! To my great surprise, what I thought was two glasses of Taylor 1970 being carried by Mrs B turned out to be one of T70 (which she ...

Re: Old bottle VAT 22 port
Although the name rings a very vague bell, I don't recall any details on this Port. From the appearance I would guess that this is a ruby Port, probably the equivalent today of a Ruby Reserve. If I had to make a guess, I'd guess probably made from grapes grown in the Baixo Corgo sub-region. I don't ...
