I thought I was opening a Noval 60 and Fonseca 70. I’ve got Noval 63. Not a bad compromise!

Re: Port for sale by retailer

I managed to track down a branch of Aldi which had some bottles of the Maynard 1992 LBV in stock (available through their website too). I've given up trying to find a bottle of the mythical 40YO tawny @ £30 but I did also buy a "Maynard 100 Years of Port" pack consisting of 4 x 20cl bottles contain...

Port and the Ashes

Anyone else enjoying the fact Sky have lost their monopoly?

I’ve opened a Smith Woodhouse 1982 LBV to keep me going through the opening overs!

1981 Warre LBV

Drunk 7th November 2017. Utterly fabulous. I’d say this is my sweet spot for maturity. Still plenty of body and fruit but elegantly so. Just becoming possible to see through a glass. I’d speculate that on 10 years time AHB might find this to his style. I think perhaps a Warre LBV vertical might be a...

I did suggest a Sussex charmer but it is also quite hard to get hold of. The aged Parmesan was very good though.

Cheese with port. Advice required

A friend is buying the cheese for a dinner tomorrow. We have a bottle of Krohn 1967 ( supplied by Tony direct to my friend ).

What cheese would people recommend. Indulgences welcome!

For the record my (blind) bottle was decanted at 11.45 and will shortly be at the B&F for tonight’s tasting.

Julian. I have no ability to print at that size but I might be able to pick up from somewhere in the City if you can. I have a 2.30pm meeting but will be in town earlier and have options of arriving at Thameslink stations too. Ben

I may be able to swing this one. Consider me heavy pencil with a tbc early next week. Btw, I think you may have confused Cookie & RLC in the first post. 1998 Fonseca Guimaraens

A bottle that has been in my ‘cellar’ for 5 years or so. Always stored on its side. The cork was completely dried out. It disintegrated and the bottom 1/3 ended up in the bottle. The sediment was very leaf like. The port itself is good. Just beginning to show the slightest element of translucence. Y...

KP is a topic that always generates much debate. I'm not even sure you could refer to him as marmite as the views don't seem to be split 50/50 in a way that reference infers. That said, I still think he was good business for Surrey on a number of counts. Excuse the link, but this was my view when hi...
