Here're my 2 cents. I've only made TN's of the VP 77's Taylor ‘77 Light rosehip colour with orange hue. Very alcholic nose, lacking in floral and fruity notes. Taste is thin, empty and pale, mainly hot with hint of liquorice. Finish kicks in after quite some time, but besides some coffee tones, not ...

I thought it's a crime to consiously poison some one... That port was horible, no moment of joy whatsoever. Don't have my TN's with me here, but below summarises it more or less: Pale, too light coloured, watery substance, with a hint of candy strawberry overwhelmed by violent paint smell and taste....

Mosterd na de maatijd, maar spuit 11 wil ook wat zeggen: I'm fine with English....

Can I propose to add an Arabic section on fruit cocktails? They have great slimy, ugly looking fruits here, which are probably worth fermenting

Sorry guys, I couldn't join this conversation earlier. First friday of March is always garanteed for the biggest hangover of the year..... (has to do with some sort of pub crawl..) so I went to bed too early Saturday.... Anyway, back to the port: Yesterday, it made my headache even worse, but now it...

Tasted in Nov 04 at Vesuvio:

Concentrated purple to black colour with a pink hue. Lovely aromas of blackcurrants, ripe black cherries, lemon blossom, spicess and some earthy tones. Very fruity, but a bit tight at the moment. Probably closing down/in a difficult phase. Some plums at the finish.

Tasted in Nov 04 at Vesuvio:

Deep purple colour. Concentrated, but far less complex than '96. Aromas of ripe cherries, strawberries and a some freshness. Bit hot in the finish. Easy fruit, easy drinking, not very integrated.

Tasted in Nov 04 at Vesuvio:

Deep purple colour. Very fresh eucalyptic nose nicely integrated with concentrated dark fruit, lavender, spicess and slight bitterness. Also bit hot in the finish. Not as elegant as the '96, but very complex and enjoyable.

I'm not hanging around a lot on this forum, here are my 2 cents: You can call me a lunatic if I did not try to get a bottle back home  , but the Symmingtons didn't allow that, not even an empty bottle....not even just the label..... Only pics. The port is indeed not registered and what Euan McK...

1991 Quinta do Vesuvio Finest Reserve Colheita

Had this port Nov 2004: This Finest Reserve '91 (colheita) is used for private consumption at Quinta do Vesuvio. Therefore, you will never ever find it in a shop. It is non filtered. Don't know the bottle date, but I assume very recent. Rusty brown to orange colour, a bit cloudy. Incredible nose of ...

Quinta do Vesuvio varietals for 2004 VP

During a visit to Quinta do Vesuvio, I had the great oppertunity to taste some one month old VP of single grape varieties to be used for the 2004 vintage port. Brandy was already added to the most and therefore fermentation was stopped. Strangly enough, these port showed almost no sign of tannins, ...

1985 Graham's Vintage Port

Split from a TN thread of a different bottle of the same wine by DRT on 20 Jul 09 Here are my 2 cents from Nov 2004: Tasted this port blind and paired with some very nice portugese cheeses around a fireplace at Quinta de Malvedos. The port was decanted for 5 hours. A bit closed in the nose, but it ...

1963 Kopke Colheita

Had this port in Feb 2004 in a nice restaurant in Scheveningen: Due to the candle light, the colour was difficult to see: it looked bright golden-brownish. It smelled like dried citrus, pineapple and prumes. Absolutely no hint of alcohol. This is how a tawny should smell. It also had a smokey flavou...
