I might pop by if there is space to squeeze me in. On the 30th I should be back from Burgundy and Austria picking up and tasting wine. I feel some mature port would do me good.....πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€

Re: Cockburn Vertical, Tue 2nd Oct 2018

Hi,

I am happy the completist is in charge! Following the "stay on winner strategy" we can look FWD to a great tasting similar to the Malvedos tasting that some mistakenly thought it was Graham's tastingπŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€

Re: 1991/92 Double Horizontal

The reason for my suggestion to go for a best of selection of 91/92 stems mainly from the limitation to 14 ports. If you make that just up of pairs we will include not all interesting ports in my view and just doing a check if the split declaration makes sense. I initially thought e.g. TV 91 would b...

Re: 1991/92 Double Horizontal

Hmmmm, for me the best port of this tasting should be T92! After this then F92, TV 91, TF91, D91,Cr91, Delaforce 92 and Ni91 come to mind. Imho FG91 is good but not really great as the above listed. QH91 as well as G91 can also be very good as well as V91 and 92. Adding a Morgan 91 and my preferred ...

Re: Warm-up for the BFT: Something nice from the 60s

Axel,

thanks for the decision that we have the glasses hired for the evening which will amount to 21Β£ per head. Am I reading your post right that you collect ~ 6.5Β£ per person for the evening or 90Β£ per person?

Please clarify and provide full break down of expected cost.

Re: Warm-up for the BFT: Something nice from the 60s

JDAW is right! Currently asking if we can have 196 glasses. Cost will be higher but I think prepouring is key as otherwise will go certainly wrong. Cost estimate I think for 14 glases is 20Β£ a head. Alternative if people bring their own glasses is we need measure glasses to go with the decanters as ...

Re: Warm-up for the BFT: Something nice from the 60s

We are flying in from Sweden on the morning of the tasting. We think it might be better to decant in the morning before the flight rather than mixing the sediment during the flight. We will bring the original bottle in any case. Does any of you have experience on what would be the best option? Plea...

Re: Warm-up for the BFT: Something nice from the 60s

Gentlemen, Axel asked me to look into the glass issue and despite short notice we can hire glasses for this event (Riedel port stems). The cost split per person for 7 glasses each is 13.2Β£. Please confirm urgently that you are happy us using the glass service as the glasses in the RAF club are not o...
