Re: Software that makes placemats

Observe that the layout of the stars look very similar, with a slight offset. (The eye might start at the top-right of the ‘7’s.) Indeed, relative to the centre of the circle, the stars are identically positioned. Is this: • Perfection? • Tolerable? • Erroneous? Tolerable, though less than ideal. W...

Currently looking like four of us; since they asked I'll submit a food order anyway. If anyone wants anything different from the default order please let me know asap, and I'll submit the food order tomorrow (Fri). Any addition people still welcome to join (subject to green room size limits) and eit...

Declare, or make?
They most certainly made Ck66.

Re: Warre's 1977 Vintage Port for sale (Valuation & Advice?)

Hi Gus, Warre '77 is a lovely, albeit slightly variable port, but is one of my favourites. It sounds like your bottles have been stored well, so assuming there is no capsule damage and the colour looks good and dark, then these bottles should be in good condition. The labels falling off is less of a...

Excellent, we appear to be quorate. B&F green room booked, and details added to first post.
Regarding theme, given the wording of Mike's reply above, how about a simple "Something glorious" (1815s welcome, but not expected) ?

Tues 24th July - Bring a bottle to share

The proposal: I could be in London next Tuesday evening, and since it has been a while since I've been able to meet up with my port chums, it seems like a good opportunity to get one last offline in before the school holidays, if anyone is available? The arrangements: - Date: Tues 24th July - Locati...

Re: Valuation???

From the label, this appears to be a 1931 Niepoort Garrafeira port - note this is neither a "vintage port" nor a "tawny"/"colheita", but a separate relatively uncommon style of port created by the process described by DRT. The label and bottle appear genuine, of the expected type. The capsule is the...

Wow. The chance to taste a Waterloo vintage port is a privilege, you guys present are very fortunate, and Christopher very generous. Sounds like a very interesting evening of different ports (I'll be particularly interested to hear how the Adams '66 [RO] showed), and the old Dalva colheita (I very m...

Road driving from London to Porto is really horrible thing, we drove from London and it was very tiring, also road directions was not correct sometimes and it was too hard to arrive to Porto, sometimes Googlemap did not give correct directions and then we start using usual services for maps for exa...

1983 Fonseca

Decanted on Saturday; only a small amount drunk on Sat evening at D+3hr: lovely raisins and complex fruit initially, leading to a simpler very sweet Graham-like finish. Didn't get the chance for any on Sun evening, so next drunk at D+48hr; sadly has not lasted well. Now somewhat less full or well ba...

NV San Leonardo 20yr white

I must come back and write more, but first impression of this wine is that it is a delicious, superbly balanced 20yr (sweet) white, lovely full flavour, good length finish.

Overall I prefer the 20yr tawny to the 20yr white, but that is no criticism of the white; this is a very good wine.

Ah but that's another interesting different option Wolfgang - you seem to be implicitly suggesting a "best of 91 vs best of 92" rather than pairs of 91/92 from the same shipper.

Personally I'm hoping for the majors (FG91 vs F92, G91 vs GM92 etc), perhaps with some dual declarers depending on availability.

Why was there so much guessing of Ts94 (both for the wine that was in fact Ts94, and for wine that wasn't)?
Perhaps it is well known (just not to me) that members have recently bought Ts94 and thus it might appear - but which producer is "Ts" ?

Re: Valuation Question

In rough agreement with DRT. In top condition this would retail for £800-1200, and hence you would be likely to obtain £400-600 if you were to sell it privately or at auction. Regarding condition, the capsule/seal looks good, but you would need to check the level of the wine in the bottle; if this i...

But if the list above starts to identify that we need to find a Ferreira, for example, we can make sure that when one come...
