1968 Niepoort White Colheita

Brown and gold in colour with perhaps just a hint of green on the rim, this venerable white colheita has a fantastic and enticing smell; gorgeous, full, heady complexity, this port impresses even before tasting. In the mouth, a pleasing well-balanced complexity of white fruits and acidity, constantl...

2003 Kopke White Colheita

A lovely bright honey-gold colour, the initial taste is quite gentle with notes of butterscotch and vanilla. The flavour builds to a full mid-palate with honey, apricots and almonds, then fades slowly for a long finish with very well-balanced acidity. Enjoyable summer drinking, perhaps. rating: g Ta...

It's not St. George's day yet, but TFP have today announced FG19, TTF19 and CrR19, all being held for late release.
Also a Vargellas, too, I think.
You're right, I missed that one; TV19 as well.

Label is consistent with all prior labels (no accent). Previous documention about the Quinta from the quinta itself shows no accent.
The train station name has the accent.

Hi John - you may have already seen, but replying so you get notification in case, that Symington Family Estates have announced their 2019 ports ( here ), including Vesuvio, two Dow Single Quintas and Graham Malvedos. As Jacob mentioned, The Fladgate Partnership usually make their announcement on St...

Re: Poças, Tue 26 April 2022

Idle perusal of vintageport.se tells me this was a business founded by Manoel D. Poças Junior in 1918 (that explains the '100 years' cork on the 2000 colheita botled in 2018, I was wondering) and now called Manoel D. Poças Junior Vinhos SA. I infer that Poças Junior and Poças are the same wine, the...

Re: 1994s, Tue 16 Nov 2021

My thoughts: - Agree with NN exclusion, given youth/cost combination. - Very much agree to prioritise the RP-RPE for comparison - I would also prioritise Ni-Ps to have the Passadouro alongside the Niepoort for comparison - (consequentially disagreeing with JDAW's preference of K > Ps due to point ab...

Re: 1960 Port

I've seen that same style of label on several older vintages of Ferreira, so wouldn't be too worried by that; am mildly surprised by the bottle-shape though, which I haven't seen the '60 in before.

A minor addition for your list - Rainha Santa vintage port was also produced in '94 (TPF tasting note here, also positive), and '97.
Great reading as always, though I might disagree and consider that retrieval of a rare bottle sounds like the perfect excuse for a trip to Florida, or anywhere else!

Re: Insane auction prices

Have to agree, that's ridiculous; and it can't just be one person whose cat has stood on the keyboard either, there must have been at least two people willing to bid 750+ hammer for these four bottles, of which at least three have very poor levels and look like leakers. Perhaps they've (both!) forgo...

Re: Old bottle VAT 22 port

It's an interesting bottle, but I can't add anything definitive either I'm afraid; I've only previously heard the brand "VAT 22" in relation to madeira, and agree with Alex that this is most likely a ruby or ruby reserve - though it is just possible that it might be unfiltered, and looks as though i...
