Re: Vesuvio sales at Christies
Looking at my purchases I am not surprised 1995 was the most popular I picked a few of these cases up over the years at reasonable rates. A nice drop too!
Post 2000 Vesuvio is a lot rarer in the secondary market, I don't know if they are making less or it is selling 'quicker'?

What fun you will have. I am sure someone can give you a better answer than me on the subtleties you have queried
I would recommend getting a Taylors and Noval LBV and then comparing them, Taylors is on offer in some supermarkets right now and Noval might be too. Both are fun and accessible.

Picked up a few bottles this week - only a handful were for me I want you to understand! Now we know "who ate all the pies" ! After that not much was left in the SE so I picked up some everyday ports, I had the opposite problem where a mis communication meant I ended up with slightly more...

Afraid I cannot point you at a chart. I find the tasting notes in this site extremely useful to get a 'picture' of a port.

Travel shock, is it real and how long does it last?
Ignore me if I'm having a moment! Anyway I have an observation that younger ports appear to go through a travel shock period (or perhaps time is masking the development). Why? Well being impatient I try newly delivered ports and they miss my expectation, however after some time (say a year) I am sur...

Whilst a noble jest to those who don't drink port you could get rid of the kettle and have more space for decanters?

Re: BBC article on Port caught my eye
it becomes our duty to find people, indoctrinate them into port, and get them to our tastings. Got me thinking what would you do to "convert" people to port? My 5 cents, 3 different bottles it is positively fun to spot the differences and most people can pick the quality difference betwee...

Re: Laying away Vintage Port for the next generation
Like most it was not something by family did. I suspect I will leave some wine to someone and like Tom I see more point in it being someone who will enjoy it. I have several ports from the years my kids were born and will use them to introduce them to port when they hit 18, who knows they may enjoy ...

Tough one probably the VV too although the 1977 is a cracking bottle if you get a good one.
