Re: 2018 Offline Summary

An idea for another slightly different tasting: "Battle of the blends" Could we invite shippers to submit bottles? For a competition that we should describe as ‘playful’? Yes, we could invite. I think we would end up with ≈ zero bottles. Alternatively, we pick a vintage and create blends of Dow-Gra...

Just no.
Perhaps you could use the 2008 placemats as a frame of reference but utilise the improvements made since to create a modern alternative version that evokes memories of days gone by?

I have checked Erskine May back to 27 December 1703 and can see no precedent that would cause the chair to rule to the contrary.

Placemat style? Like that of the 1966 tasting of June 2013, or April 2014, or February 2016?

I vote ’14, then ’13, then ’16.
May I request September 2008, please?

I shall be at at trade fair in Asia.
That is a great pity. Unfortunately, with this many people and so few practical dates to choose from it was somewhat inevitable that one or more would have two drop out. We hope to see you at another event soon.

Re: Do we need a 1966 Horizontal?

Two minor edits: the early weeks of Sep are erroneous as shown currently - both of "PW not avail 15th" and "DRT not avail 8th" are for Oct (not Sep), which would also make w/c Sep 9 empty, though I agree that w/c 10 Jun would be a good choice if DRT available then. Fixed. Tuesday 10th of September?

I think October would be good.

Does Tuesday the 15th work?
Not for me sadly, as that's my wife's birthday. A week earlier (the 8th) would work; a week later would be right next to my own birthday tasting.

Re: Do we need a 1966 Horizontal?

Early June would be good for me, otherwise suggest going for late Sep when it might be cooling down again? Late September wouldn't work for me. Early June might be cramming too much into the six weeks from 1 May to 17 June. I'd prefer October or November - now it's up to the organiser to choose a d...

Re: Tuesday 26th March 2019: DRT's Annual Elixir Tasting

A friend from the Port trade is going to be in the area at another event on the night of this tasting and intends joining us after dinner. I am therefore taking an executive decision to break the normal "14 Max" rule and we will be pouring 15 glasses from each bottle. As compensation to the team I a...

2010 Dow Quinta Senhora da Ribeira

The nose is lovely - filled with violets and raspberry. Surprisingly approachable, plummy and extremely smooth on the palate. Lots of tannic dryness at the end. Very, very nice now but will be better in 20 years.
