Re: Day trip up the Douro Valley

Quinta do Vesuvio - do they still do visits, if booked in advance? (I read a while ago that they did, not sure if this changed with the Bomfim visitor centre opening). If yes, then do they do lunch as well? As Vesuvio is my favourite house, this is somewhere I'd really like to visit. Unless you hav...

for such an important event , I think a theme of British shippers is more appropriate.
Given the heritage and natural language of the monarch involved, perhaps we should allow a smattering of Germanic-shipper relatives to join the party?

One of my TNs has a list, presumably of toasts:
  • The Queen;
  • The Happy Couple;
  • Vintage Port;
  • The Port Forum.
Can anybody recall whether these were actually done?

Remind me, are we allowed to report posts by people who have American English as their first language or is this thread just for the admonishment re-educationof the native English speaker? The use of Americanisms should not be reported as they can't help it. Misuse of apostrophes and general gramma...

I certainly am-bought the 294 (Bordeaux) bottle version about 18 months ago and not had an issue (touch wood). I think wife would have preferred the glass rather than solid door version (for aesthetic reasons) but former was materially more expensive. Thanks, Ian, good to know. I was trying to reme...

Re: Almost meaningless drivel

My wine cabinet at home broke recently - in a fairly spectacular way since it clearly shorted and caused all the trip switches in the house to trigger. Sadly, my 15 year old Belgian-imported Liebherr was beyond repair and so a replacement had to be bought with some urgency. The old cabinet sat in a...

Where two port-lovers find themselves working within a few hundred yards of one another on weekdays for six months it is essential that they have no more than four drinking sessions together per week.
Does that include weekends?

Nuno,

If the bottles look genuine and are in the condition you describe those prices are very low, particularly for the 1931 which is a very sought-after year.
