Re: Wed 13 Feb 2019 - The 10th Anniverary Vesuvio Case tasting
Thank you, Christopher. I very much enjoyed this event and it was very interesting to taste these Vintage Ports 13 years on from when I first tasted them at the Quinta with you, AHB and others.

Re: Wed 20th Feb 2019, Emergency
No chance for me I'm afraid due to half-term commitments. That's a great idea for Dirk: a wine called The Mother-in-Law. Perhaps "The Duchess" (a fabulous, but slightly faded LBV) would be more in keeping with the Niepoortland series; though I always hoped Dirk might add a Caterpillar-based port to...

Unfortunately I will not be in London on 20th Feb.
For clarity, is the theme "Bring your mother-in-law to a tasting"?

Re: Sell collection
I paid GBP 75 per bottle (just under USD 100) last time I bought Graham 1963. That's the market I am able to buy in. Maybe I should be arbitraging Port from the UK to New York... Wow. I think I've got some learning to do. To be fair, AHB has been consistent in telling us that he has not been buying...

Re: RE: Re: Tue 29th October 2019 -
I've just thought what I can bring - a bottle of 1996 FG; 1996 being almost 1969. You now have 68 attempts remaining. Does this scupper my idea of bringing a 1960? :x Not at all, with the assumed justification of "it has a 6 and a 9 in it". There was nothing wrong with FG96 either, on the same basi...

Obviously I was not looking for someone who was bottom fishing. Seems like there are a lot of folks like that on the forum. As far as I can see no one on this forum has been in any way disrespectful to you. Your comments above are unnecessary. I refer you to Rule 1 , which is essentially "Be nice"....

awaiting decisions from DRT. What decisions have I to make? Deadline for reconfirmations has passed. Who moves to and from the waitlist? OK. One step at a time: Since my last update on 9th November 2018 I can only see one reconfirmation from Ben Read. JDAW, please confirm I have not missed anyone. ...

Re: Day trip up the Douro Valley
Quinta do Vesuvio - do they still do visits, if booked in advance? (I read a while ago that they did, not sure if this changed with the Bomfim visitor centre opening). If yes, then do they do lunch as well? As Vesuvio is my favourite house, this is somewhere I'd really like to visit. Unless you hav...

Given the heritage and natural language of the monarch involved, perhaps we should allow a smattering of Germanic-shipper relatives to join the party?Christopher wrote: ↑23:08 Mon 14 Jan 2019for such an important event , I think a theme of British shippers is more appropriate.

I think the most impressive part of this experiment is that you happened to have a bottle of Tokaji lying around in that lab

Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: Apostrophe crimes
"They say I used apostrophys wrong - fake news! Fake news. We have the best apostrophys, they just didnt understand what I said. Fake news, so sad." Is it childish to point out there's no "y" in apostrophe/apostrophes; or the missing punctuation in "didn't" when it's clearly a popular representatio...

Re: Apostrophe crimes
Remind me, are we allowed to report posts by people who have American English as their first language or is this thread just for the admonishment re-educationof the native English speaker? The use of Americanisms should not be reported as they can't help it. Misuse of apostrophes and general gramma...
