Re: Bordeaux Recommendations
Do you have any recommendations for 2013? As it is for my youngest, I would need something that will last at least 20-25 years. For the oldest I bought Sociando Mallet (2010) but it appears that 2013 is a difficult year... Any recommendation from other regions is welcome as well. Budget 20-30€ per b...

Sorry, just realised it'll be next week when you're in Paris. Could you possibly leave it at the hotel? I can pick up when I get to Paris? Or, you can drop it off at my sister's who lives in the 1er arrondissement, dead center Paris. -SCP-DFF Dropping it off at your sister is probably the most conv...

Hi Wolfgang, I'm the one who offered the bottle for trade. Unfortunately Frankfurt will not be possible. I will have 2 business trips next week: Monday / Tuesday : Paris Thursday / Friday : Hamburg As I live in the Netherlands, I will do both by car. This means that any town between s-Hertogenbosch ...

Jagermeister? Verzonden vanaf mijn iPhone met behulp van Tapatalk Is this a conspiracy? If no-one guesses in the the next three goes I will 'award' the question to the person of my choosing. Actually, according to some, Jagermeister is a conspiracy. Google on "The Jaegermeister Conspiracy"...

Re: Wanted Thread
Gerwin, my local Gall & Gall has Dow 2007 for €60. On their "crazy wine days" you even get 50% reduction on the 2nd bottle. I would not be suprised if they have been standing there for over 3 years but guess that with such a young port and our cool climate this should not be be major i...

Re: Latest buy
Actually I also purchased 3 bottles of Cruz 89 during my holiday in France in September.
As well for the ridiculous price of I believe 14EUR. (even in a small wooden crate)
And they are actually not that bad...

Good to hear that at least it is a known brand. I did not consider repairing the old one. It must be approx 20yrs, is very noisy and consumes a lot of elektricity....

Wine cellar unit
Finally the inevitable happened and my Eurocave unit died a few days ago  Of course these things seem to happen always at the most inconvenient time of the year with temperatures rising to +30C this week. If you know that my wine cellar is actually in my attic (since most people have no cellar...

Re: 2007 Quinta do Infantado LBV
Tried this yesterday as well. Indeed virtually no tannins and seems lower on the alcohol. I personally enjoyed this and the Colheita the most. Also their Colheita is somewhat different to 'normal' with more hints of ruby and virtually no interrference of wood.

Re: Port for sale by retailer
Maybe I should indeed try it.DRT wrote:The label appears to say "Bottled by Sogevinus Fine Wines" so this is probably produced by Barros Almeida. Given that their specialty is tawny rather than ruby ports there is no reason why this shouldn't be a good bottle, especially at that price.
Good luck!

Re: Mystery bottle
Hi Derek,
Great research. I guess my mistake was to use google.com.
It indeed looks to be made by Roicom. Roicom is based in Garriguella and the symbols on the escutcheon (?) resemble the ones from the town (grapes, oak leafs, tower).
I will send them an email for more information.
rgrds,
Dries

Mystery bottle
Hi all, A while ago I obtained a bottle which was sold by the owner as Port and believed to be at least 40 yrs old. I'm not convinced at all this this is actually Port. Although it mentions "Portoluz", the bottle, decorations and text remain a complete mystery to me. As you can see on the ...

Re: Christmas port
What are people planning for Christmas? I have my eye on an Offley 70 for Xmas eve, and my Xmas day port is likely to be a Graham 83 or Fonseca 85 (for something a bit more robust!). I have the Fonseca 85 and Niepoort 85 lined up. I hope to be lucky again with the Niepoort 85. For "normal"...

Re: Birth year port
Have seen this a bit recently...the marketing of 30 yr tawny as a 1981 anniversary/birth year gift... Two online examples: here and here I'm not sure that either explicitly claim to be "vintage 1981", but both come close to implying it - the first link in particular. I think there's a fai...
