Re: Handwriting questions

"Poor nose and very pleasant" does not seem to make too much sense.

Could the first word perhaps be good?

BBR port walk - 2015

The BBR port walk will be held on two dates again this year, Thursday 26th and Friday 27th November 2015.

I shan't be there, won't be able to get back from Antarctica in time.

Re: Mon 2nd March 2015, Boot & Flogger, with Henry Shotton

Thoroughly enjoyed it, even though I spent the majority of the evening totally flummoxed by the ports.

I have come to the conclusion (again) that I need to drink more. All in the name of research of course.

Re: One quiz at a time

My theory was the start and end of the 1st French Republic but can't see the link of drinking port to commemorate the end. Probably not my go either.

Doh, no century was specified for the '48 and '49.

presumably 1848/49 are the relevant dates?

Re: General query on maturity in half bottles

Measurements (appx) of the internal, cylindrical part of the bottle: standard: 65 x 195 mm half: 55 x 145 mm internal area of standard bottle = 46456 mm 2 internal area of half bottle = 17279 mm 2 is that right? now what? Don't think that's correct. For a radius of 65mm and height 195mm I get area=...

Re: General query on maturity in half bottles

If we can approximate the surface area of the liquid to that of a cylinder (which we can only do if the bottle is stored upright) then the surface area calculation is:- Area=2πrh+2π r^2 Where r is the radius (to internal wall) of the cylinder and h is the height (of the liquid). Yes, go on… Do you ...
