LBV with different bottling years: which is "better"?

While I was doing my usual shopping today, I decided to further stock up on Niepoort's 2011 LBV, so I put two bottles into the trolley. At home I was surprised to find that one bottle was bottled in 2015 (like the other bottles that I have) and one in 2016. So I wonder a) if different bottling years...

Re: The Wine Society: recommendations

For Riesling lovers I can recommend these two wines: Wiltinger Riesling Dry, von Kesselstatt 2014 http://www.thewinesociety.com/shop/productdetail.aspx?section=pd&pl=&pd=GE8941&pc=&prl= A very tasty Saar river Riesling. Very good value, too. Jordan Estate The Real McCoy Riesling, Ste...

Re: 2011 Schodener Saarfeilser Marieenberg Riesling Spatlese troken

First of all, you’re welcome. I’m glad you take an interest in Riesling. I’m always happy to make converts. If you shop the next time at Waitrose, try their Künstler Hochheimer Hölle Riesling. This is from the Rheingau. A region you seem to prefer over the Mosel (since you liked the Breuer one bette...

Re: Which LBVs are worth cellaring?

In addition to the Sandeman, I would recommend the following LBVs for cellaring:

- Niepoort
- Noval (unfiltered)
- Rozes
- Warre (unfiltered)

"Hedonic eating"

I guess this forum is more about hedonic drinking, but I would like to draw attention to a little book that was published by OUP some weeks ago: 'Hedonic Eating: How the Pleasure of Food Affects Our Brains and Behavior". :tpf: Lifecoach-General will probably like chapter eight: "The Influe...

Being a foreigner, I didn't know Michael Portillo. Thus I looked him up on Wikipedia. I think it's strange that a politician should turn into a successful TV presenter. I would have thought that people would be fed up with a politician once he's left the byzantine world of scheming and self-enrichme...

I am currently dining alone at the Kameha Grand hotel in Bonn (I caught the afternoon flight. My colleagues planned to catch the cancelled evening flight). On the wine list is a modest selection of port: Quinta do Noval ruby NV @ €7 per 5cl glass or €46 per bottle Quinta do Noval white NV @ €7 per ...

In Gothenburg Landvetter airport they sell Andresen 1995 Colheita in the (non-)Duty Free shop. You are not allowed to buy ANY alcohol if you are flying within the EU. Offering good port and then not selling it is clearly teasing. Not very civilised in my opinion. :( Why is it not allowed to buy it ...

I think this acronym is here to increase the already high number of abbreviations in the wine world. We wouldn't want to let everyone know so easily what we are talking about, would we? :)

Do you also mean excessively sweet by "jammy" or simply excessively fruity? In my limited experience a port tastes less sweet the older it gets. Does anyone know why? (I guess the sugar level is still the same).
