Re: Niepoort. 20 years old port bottled in 1973

Last year I had a Ni 20 bottled in 1972, and the juice was superb. They keep extremely well over time.
It is not worth more than 25£, but the taste is like an old colheita. So Lucky You!

1955 Niepoort

Split by AHB from a separate tasting note of a different bottle of Niepoort 1955 On a rainy thursday in 2013, I shared a Ni55 with the former CEO of a Danish winemerchant. A humble experience. The port filled the entire room. Fully matured, gigantic body, and just a pleasent way of spending an hour...

Re: White Port

It is not easy to find excellent White ports. I have been so lucky twice to have had the niepoort very old White port. The color is beautiful and clear, and the taste is pure quality. I agree with Alex on the one statement, that the Best port is a port that is drunk, But not necessarily red :P Happy...

Re: Wax on wax off

I waxed my first 3 bottles. First in a Can in boiling Walter, But it took to long. Then in an old pot directly in the oven 150 degrees Celsius. And after 10 min. the wax was like melted butter.... The result was ok, just now I have some funky looking Niepoorts :D A colheita 1912 and the vintage from...

Re: The 1000 finest wines ever made

I know that I am a Niepoort guy. And I have not tried many of the ports on the top 100 list. But not having Ni1945 Ni1955, and the beautiful Colheitas from 1900, 1908, 1912, 1934, 1935 and 1937 on the list is surprising. And speeking about Tawnys, where is the fabulous Niepoort VV made by the old Ed...

Re: Massandra?

Had the Massandra Ayu-dag 1936 yesterday. What a sugarbomb :D Maby just a little toooo sweet.
Massive tast of prunes. I am glad we had a 1938 Colheita from Souza, just to level out the balance.

Re: Massandra?

I have got my hands on some Massandra Ayu-Dag 1936. Anyone who knows what to expect?
And do I decant the bottles prior to drinking?

Cheers from Denmark
