Re: 1994s, Tue 11 June 2019, at the B&F

Very nice recap and glad to see the 1994's have generally come back out of their respective awkward teenage years. When I last did a horizontal of 1994's on their 20th, many were very awkward and not showing their best at that moment. I am curious about Flash_UK's comments about the Noval. I've had...

Re: 1994s, Tue 11 June 2019, at the B&F

Very enjoyable evening - many thanks to all for the outstanding company. Also, very good to meet two news faces, Nick and George. On the '94s, I could have handed points to perhaps 10 of the 14 ports on show. Many of these had some vintage consistency - lots of rich fruit, velvety sweetness. Quite a...

The no Gould Campbell was certainly an other more dire reason. Smith Woodhouse not so dire I thought - that brand still lives on in the SFE portfolio.

Re: Tue 25 June 2019 - 2017 Vintage Ports

I am both delighted and disappointed to have to withdraw from this one. The 2016 version of this was a wonderful tasting and I am gutted to no be able to compare with the 2017s, particularly with the back to back nature of the vintage declarations. But, I am delighted because we finally managed to ...

Incidentally, Cockburn have declared 2015, 2016, 2017. I thought it unusual for a major house to declare three vintages in a row. But, the Book suggests it was not uncommon in the 19th century. Croft apparently declared eight vintages in a row from 1827...

Now looks like I can make it for around 5pm on Tuesday. I’ll print the placemats and bring them along. Given that the placemats have the actual bottles on them, I assume we are ditching any previous idea for blinding? JDAW - one minor amendment with the placemats. IDJ appears twice. Re: Your picks when searching out value in the context of 16/17 pricing?

I tasted the F03 at the BBR Port Walk back in November and was very impressed by it. I’ve had a look and I don’t appear to have added a TN here on the forum. I’ll have a poke around and see if I can find my notes from the evening. I recall coming away thinking I should be adding some to the cellar.
