1945 Chaplin

Thank you for the information you give on Chaplin, a wine merchant in London, some years ago. Excellent!
During Christmas we enjoyed Chaplin’s vintage 1945. (for tasting notes see: http://www.vintageport.se). Very attractive and interesting.

Cockburn vintage 1957

In December last year there was a discussion about a Cockburn 1957 here if it was OK. I bought the bottle and we had enjoyed it now. It was Cockburn on the cork and the Port Wine Institute label confirmed that it was genuine after contact with the Institute, just for your knowledge. We have had a Gr...

Gilbert 1986

Two threads on the same subject have been merged by jdaw1, somewhat interleaving the posts. But the substance of the conversation should be clear enough. D Hello! Do anyone know if Gilbert declared a vintage 1986. We have a photo with 2 labels 1985 and or one label with 1985 and one label change to...

Re: 1945 Vintage Port Tasting

Congratulation to the excellent 1945 Vintage Tasting. Sorry to read that some was not good at all. As you can see on my web-site: www.vintageport.se I have enjoyed 11 vintage 1945 but not at all as many as you hade on your 1945 vintage tasting. I have still 6 different houses of the 1945 vintage in ...

Re: Borges vintage 1955 -something wrong

Yes it could be a window bottle. I did not think of that. I bought it on internet. I do not know how to send a photo of the seal but just a very little piece remain of it so no use. I will ask my son-in law to send it. The cork just say: Borges Vintage 1980 so no use to send that I suppose. Sten Mal...

Re: Borges vintage 1955 -something wrong

Yes, we discuss this seriously but if so it was very old indeed. Something was wrong but this is maybe one quite possible guess and maybe the best we can do. Unfortunately we could not read the Port Institute identification just the figures.

Re: Borges vintage 1955 -something wrong

I have no other bottles and it was the first time we enjoyed a Borge 1955( see www.vintageport.se). I did not look specially before I opened it so I did not notice any pics. The cork was a genuine Borge cork and nothing specially to see but saying vintage 1980 and I do realized that this cork did no...

Borges vintage 1955 -something wrong

Have anyone had a bottle of Borges vintage 1955 and something else in the bottle? When I decanted my bottle during Easter, first it look like a white port and then turbid and muddy like dirty water (see www.vintageport.se and under Borges). The cork was an original cork with Borges in it but saying ...

Re: Cockburn 1957

It was on sale one week ago with photo so it was no misprint, but perhaps you mean misprint on the dinner where it was mentioned. I know that Cockburn had some very unusual vintage such as 1911 (not so unusual perhaps) and 1916 which is or have been in my cellar but for me 1957 was strange and I hav...

On French e-bay there is a Cockburn 1947 for sale. I did not know that this existed. Have anyone seen this before?

Re: VYX

Thank you for the answers. I know about the vintage 1900 and the selo (IVP label) and I realize that that bottle is a Colheita. That was why I asked.
Do anyone know which house is behind the label? Sten
