Re: TBH London 8 January

Sorry to hear you won't be there Julian, hopefully next time.
I will try to be there between 6-6.30 tonight, if my course finishes on time.
See you all tonight!

Re: TBH London 8 January

Good, 8th it is. Thanks Alex for booking TBH. I have no preference for blind or sighted, both are fine with me.
I will try to find a nice bottle when in London, as I have exactly 1 bottle of Port left here in Oman, and that needs to be drunk together with LadyR.

TBH London 8 January

I will be in London again from 6 to 10 January and would love to see old (and new) friends and share a glass. Probably only just a relaxed get together, could even be with some beers and wines.
Let me know any preferred dates and I'll try to pick a day that works for everyone.

I can assure you that in this case the sommeliere was right. This never was and never will be a very good port, no matter how freshly opened the bottle is.

Does anyone have an opinion on Fonseca Guimaraens / Panascal 96? http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/12/08/y5ujajan.jpg Does anyone have an opinion on them at these prices? At that price, it is difficult to go wrong. Buy a case of both, and enjoy over the mid-term, or if you only want to buy one of the tw...

Re: Taylor Single Harvest Tawny 1964

In the fullness of time it might prove interesting to note that on this day Wiese & Krohn 1964 Colhieta Branco is available at £49.99 and the 1966 standard Colhieta at £69.99. I suspect the "Taylor" 1964 will be closer to £200. Well that's pertinent for sure.. Is the branding of this ...

Re: World faces global wine shortage

The world is facing a wine shortage, with global consumer demand already significantly outstripping supply, a report has warned. The research by America's Morgan Stanley financial services giant says demand for wine "exceeded supply by 300m cases in 2012". As it happens, I am currently wr...

Re: The Helix Cork

Seems to me that this is Amorim's attempt to compete with screwcap, but in my view that battle is already lost. There is general acceptance of screwcap, even for premium wines, so I think it will be very difficult for the cork industry to win back that lost ground. If they had introduced this produc...

preordered 12x GST (supposedly, but they might get rescinded) If there are GST11 available, please let the obvious UK people know by PM. UK availability has, mostly, served to make people annoyed with their regular merchants. Did you follow up that Dutch site? The one with the Kopke? If you are ord...

Re: Tropical Port Storage

Having lived in tropical conditions for the past 5 years, my experience is that a wine fridge is the best option to keep your bottles at your preferred temperature. We have to deal with power outages from time to time, and temperatures in the house can creep up to very unpleasant levels when this ha...

We have no information about the producer Comp. Uniao des Vinhos do Porto e Madeira with brands like
Aguila
Cabraco
Calvares
Dom Joaquim
Magales
This is Gran Cruz, or better said, their parent company La Martiniquaise.

I am in town that day, but have another tasting to attend first. Would it be problematic if I arrive somewhat late, probably around 9PM? Would be great to see Oscar again. Oh, and I would have to adopt (or buy something from Davy's list). No problem, you would not be the first person to arrive at a...

Truly a lovely selection of ports. My next visit will be in April and I'm already looking forward to a...
