Re: So what do I open next?

Yikes! That might not be the kids. (Is that a failure to record one drunk last October, or a genuine case of a missing C12?) That will purely be a failure to record the consumption of the bottle in October - no-one has a key to the wine store except me! No-one else to blame for poor record keeping....

Re: London, week beginning 16 March

It sounds like we have a plan - Tuesday at TCP with Tom, Jacob and me to drink one of my leakers (blind tasting rules?). Wednesday, perhaps at the Bishop of Norwich or perhaps at the Barbican - Ben and me to drink another of my leakers (blind tasting rules again?). Ben - do you fancy seeing if Neil ...

Re: London, week beginning 16 March

Was any consensus reached on a day next week? No, but I am happy to meet up with Jacob on Tuesday and you on Wednesday. I'll be in Trinity Square until 6pm on Tuesday and in Moorgate until 7pm on Wednesday. If you and Jacob would like to suggest suitable venues that would be convenient for each day...

Tom

You're bringing the 1964. Ghandi is looking to adopt a bottle and will post here, I am sure, if he is still in need.

Re: So what do I open next?

Oh no! A minor disaster has occurred!! I went to the cupboard to get the Fonseca 1980 and there was none  My cellar records are wrong. This is extremely worrying. While consoling myself with a bottle of Vin de Constance 2000 I shall conduct a full audit of the remaining bottles immediately. Su...

Re: Mystery Sample

I confess. After your very cruel trick in asking me to identify blind one of the ports I claim to be my favourite, I sent the sample to you.

It was a very carefully crafted mixture of Ribena, elderflower, blackberry juice, vodka, water and a touch of brandy.

Did you like it?

So what do I open next?

I have very little port at home at the moment and need to decide what to open next - and I just can't make up my mind as most of these bottles are the last of that shipper / vintage that I own.

So help me out - what should I open next?

Don't forget to try some Goan port while you are there. Portuguese grape varieties, portuguese wine makers, but a very Indian twist

Sadly, my better half saw my post and has booked Monday for her own purposes.

I could make either (or both) Tuesday and Wednesday...

London, week beginning 16 March

It seems that I am required to work in London next week. Is anyone interested in meeting up one evening to share a leaky bottle of port which I have discovered while moving my bottles around in anticipation of my forthcoming building work? Consider it an invitation to a warm up event for the Vargell...

Re: Needed - son of M91..

Sadly the '91 is exhausted, as is the '70, but the other vintages are available from '63 to '97, although there is not much '63 or '66 left. If the price is fair, I'd also be interested in buying another dozen of both of the '63 and '66 - especially if we can combine this with a larger parcel and g...

Re: Needed - son of M91..

Alex If it helps I just had some Morgan 85 delivered from Octavian which was from the Christies Morgan sale so could bring a bottle to the Vargellas tasting if it helps to get reaquainted! I'd love to try it again, to see if it has faded at all with an extra couple of years in the bottle. Yes please.

That is a very good price for the LBV of a producer who has a good reputation for their unfiltered wines. Nice find!

GC77 has a dreadful reputation for TCA - but this bottle is lovely and just perfect for congratulating Maximilian on his arrival into the world.

Re: Needed - son of M91..

Tom - can I clarify your earlier comment. Are you saying that there are only 3,000 bottles of Morgan 1991 vintage port left on the open market and that these are held by Giles or are you saying that there are 3,000 bottles owned by Giles, which are of mixed vintage? Of the two vintages you have name...

On the other hand I would not go and change date and/or location due to this. We could alternatively live with one of them, too, can we? Personally, I would very much prefer to have a representative from each of the families. If we are doing a "taste off", comparing Taylor's best to the S...
