Under GBP20 is much easier. Under GBP15 is a challenge but one I can rise to. Bring something under GBP15 could mean two things. Lets have a cheap port for a change or suprise me with something I would not normally try. It sounds like the theme is "surprise me with something I would not normall...

Just because Chooky Embra drinks it doesn't make it right. It should be Gordon's. Do you think "Chooky Embra" had a Bombay Sapphire when he went to Trent Bridge today? He turned up just in time to see KP get his century! Edit: See comment at 16:59 on BBC website! BBC Sport Looked like a c...

Just a thought should we make this "under GBP20"? It would give us just a bit more scope. Even the Tesco 1994 is normally GBP15.99 I think.

I am begining to favour an agreed line up as options at sub GBP15 make it likely we end up with mutiple bottles.

Now enjoying a glass. It is very smooth - what i was hoping for from a 21 year old wine. I am glad I bought more than 1 bottle!

This could become a reliable everyday VP for me I think!

It may take some planning as well. What other pairings exist?

I have found two people selling this at the moment:

Virgin Wines at GBP17.49
Arthur Rackham Wines at GBP17.19

That seemed pretty good value to me. I must admit I did check the tasting notes before buying, just to check!

1987 Delaforce Quinta Da Corte

I have just opened this bottle with a view to enjoying a glass or two tonight and tomorrow night. Immediate observations: It has a very heavy flake like sediment The cork had a wax like substance over it - almost like an additional seal? Has anyone seen this before? The small glass I poured at the e...

I did have one alternative thought for a theme - either for this or another day. BOB bottles compared to their commercial bretheren. For example, we know the Tesco 1994 is bottled by Symmington / Quarles Harris. There is a 1994 QH commercially available as well - at around twice the price via BBR. H...

Sounds like the kind of gin they would make cocktails with in the tackiest of Spanish (or Portuguese) holiday resorts for Brits on cheap holidays!

Any suggestions for themes would be welcome, and my contribution is "A Cheap and Cheerful Blind Tasting". Ports to be served blind and to cost no more than £15 per bottle. Vintage and Late Bottled Vintage only. In deference to the fact that it is likely those of us going to the game may n...

1999 Grahams LBV

This is from a 1 litre bottle given to me a couple of years ago. It was bottled in 2005 so probably fails the "drink within a year or so" recommendation that I have seen for a couple of other LBV's here. (It is a filtered LBV). That said, it is not unpleasant. Little nose and quite light t...
