Gould Campbell 1985: Color seemed a bit lighter than the 83, nose fairly light with a hint of cinnamon and spice, fairly sweet and light. Comparing it to the 83, I did not notice the same tropical fruity finish on the 85. Overall, a very well-balanced port, quite enjoyable.

Gould Campbell 1983: one of the darkest colored ports of the evening, still a rather deep purplish. Very well balanced on the nose, dark fruits, fairly clean and straightforward. Light mouthfeel, decent flavor with a tropical fruity/Hawaiian Punch finish. Quite pleasing.

Noval Nacional 1983: Color very pale and delicate. Very funky highly vegetal nose - I noted celery and it seemed to come and go throughout the evening. I believe all of the LBV's that people will be bringing are unfiltered. Maybe we should throw in a standard flitered LBV for comparison. I also just recently picked up a Quarles Harris 2001, which is filtered. Maybe I should add that one.

I wasn't too keen on the Infantado 1985. My first Infantado as well. Brownish color, curious nose of strawberries and camphor. Not very sweet, minty, decent mouthfeel, spice on the finish (nutmeg?) 89 pts.

I liked the Ramos Pinto 1985 very much. Nicely purple color, nose sweet and somewhat floral. Good chocolaty flavor, rich, really quite solid. Still somewhat tannic with a bit of a caramel finish. Very good. 91 pts.
