Re: 1985 Churchill

Youthful, purple colouring. A pleasant taste without much of a finish for me. Again I think it suffered in comparison against some other of the ports that evening. I guessed at a Taylor's Q de TF 88 which I offer for members' amusement. I would like to try this one again sometime to see if it showed...

Re: 1994 Tesco

This port provided my single point for the evening, as I guessed at a Tesco 97, so thank you to Julian for bringing it along to help my cause. It had a very vanillary nose and struggled against the other wines of the evening. It was also noted to have had a very new cork. I have previously enjoyed a...

Re: 1994 Vesuvio

This as my contribution to the fantastic evening. Every time I have had the V94 I feel that I have enjoyed the port before it's prime but enjoy it I did. It had a wonderful deep colouring, with a thinning rim. Bold berry fruits and a long smooth finish. I am a huge fine of this port and it didn't di...

Re: 1970 Dow

D70 was a close second on the night to the N50. I spent more time drinking and enjoying this port than writing notes, but recoded powerful fruits, a big taste and a strong if slightly hot alcohol finish. The D70 was still youthful in colour and I think this bottle would have lived on for years more....

Re: 1950 Noval

What a port to record my first :tpf: TN. The N50 was my wine of the night and I am very grateful to Tom for bringing it along. I am afraid my comments will not be up to you hardened :tpf: folk and I am not sure they are of much value, but as they say...you have to start somewhere! I recorded, that c...

Re: How to record personal tasting notes

Thank you for the replies, tips and welcomes.

The consensus seems to be to use the :tpf: tasting notes thread, which I will adopt too.

How to record personal tasting notes

Obviously :tpf: is a huge tasting note resource, but I was wondering what methods members use for their own personal records. I have made some loose notes for myself previously but want to do a better job of this going forward, as I intend to pursue my passion for Port more seriously and hopefully j...

£90 is over-priced for a 1975.

Have you tried wine-searcher.com?
thanks for the tip, I have had a look and MWH has a much more reasonable listing of 11 bottles @ £55. will keep researching.

Re: 75@40

Hi Tom, If no one has the S75 then I have seen them listed here. It is claimed they are shipped straight from the Sandeman cellars. I would be happy to purchase as my contribution if that would help? I am not sure what the opinion of this supplier is, so any thoughts appreciated. http://www.vintagew...

Re: 75@40

If there is room, I would like to come along for the 75@40 tasting in December at the wonderful Boot.
I would need to adopt a bottle for this tasting if there is room for another and someone could kindly help me with a bottle from the vintage? hope to see you there...

Re: Wed 24th of Feburary 2016 Vesuvio tasting

Having attended my first :tpf: tasting last night I would love to sign up as a reserve for the Vesuvio vertical next February if I may. Not sure f the procedure, so I hope this note suffices. I am a big fan of the Quinta, but have only had the chance to taste the 94, 95 and 97 so would love the oppo...

Re: Mon 21 Sept 2015, Boot & Flogger, An Emergency

A wonderful introduction to TPF. A huge thank you to Julian, Derek and Tom for their company, conversation and some lovely Port. I will add my notes for the night later (Tom's Noval 50 was the highlight for me, but Derek's Dow 70 a very lovely and close second). I look forward to meeting up for anot...

Re: Hello TPF

Thank you for your kind welcome email. I hadn't realised I would get an invite so quickly! I am in 2016 budget planning hell with work at the moment, so realistically 6.30 would be a push but could be there for 7ish? I don't want to be late for my first meeting, so please let me know if that is a pr...

Hello TPF

Hello all, finally I have got around to joining this wonderful forum. I have often found myself browsing the posts this year, but house buying and getting married have stopped me from committing properly. Now having enjoyed a lovely wedding and a honeymoon in Porto (which I hope qualifies me for mem...
