Noted & updated! Thank you. Am hoping to be able to make it, though some family issues are making next week impossible, so we shall see (if I am able to make it, I might be able to bring a CrR97 - if I still have it, I'm not sure - which is perhaps conspicuous by it's absence currently) Am now ...

Re: 1997 @ 25, Tues 24th May 2022 @ B&F

Anyone fancy a bottle of 44yr old beer as a warm up? An auction lot I picked up yesterday included 23 bottles of Burton centenary ale, a numbered limited edition bottled by Bass Charrington in 1978. I didn't price them at all but still won the lot.. Popped one last night and found it still in very ...

Re: Vargellas Tasting, Date TBC in mid-2023

So, without much effort we've admitted to owning about 30 vintages between us. Clearly too much for a single tasting, so as previously mentioned propose that this is done as two events. A simple approach is to do pre- and post- a nominal date to balance the bottles across two tastings but clearly ot...

Just acquired a few halves of the 1998 (£15.45 each from The Whisky Exchange). Might have missed it (and don't have a copy to hand to check), but possibly not listed in The Book?

Nothing exciting recently apart from an Enrico Santini 2001 Montepergoli (Bolgheri Rosso DOC). Drinking well, probably not going to get any better.

Vargellas Tasting, Date TBC in mid/late 2024

As discussed elsewhere, a Vargellas tasting is proposed for mid-2023 early mid/late 2024? I expect this will be quite popular and we'll jointly have a lot of bottles, especially those from recent years. However, suspect that finding older bottles in good condition is going to be a bit harder. So, be...

Re: Non Festive Drinking

@ nac - 'minor wines' from the 2000 Bordeaux vintage have been a delight since about 2005. I have long since drunk all mine purchased EP (Cissac, Tour St Bonnet, Tour de By (£55/dozen IB, sob), Haut-Batailley, Fonbadet). Interestingly MWH has a case of the Cissac 2000 for £420 (£35 per bt)... 2000 ...

Might be able to do last minute flying visit if a spot still open at the time, but won't know until that week. OK - will leave you on the reserve list. Cough. Not...

Re: Non Festive Drinking

This weekend Chateau Grand-Pontet (Saint-Emilion) 2000 and Chateau de Saint Cosme (Gigondas) 2005. The Bordeaux, one of my earliest EP purchases (from Laithwaites STWC), has been drinking beautifully over the last 10+ years. Continued not to disappoint but strangely evaporated in the decanter and a ...
