Re: PORT TO SELL THAT CAN'T GO TO NZ!

Can you drop them off in Australia en route? I think I am only half joking :)

Re: Corked/Spoilt Ports - Name and Shame

2005 Quinta do Noval LBV (unfiltered) - TCA of the worst kind. The just above threshold stuff that has you guessing, wondering, worrying at the absent bouquet and the closed (aka stripped) palate. Leaving it an hour and coming back to it we have proof positive with the musty odour developing. So fru...

Perhaps the other bottle needs to be broached to either confirm or correct this bewildering disparity :)

This is certainly one of my favourite NV's. Seems to be sadly creeping up in price.

Re: 2006 Potensac

I do recall consuming several pitch perfect halves of 1983 Château Gruaud-Larose in its 30th birthyear. I wondered at the time whether full bottles would be that much less mature.

Re: Mayson's Top 20 Buys

I do not think the quality of the Niepoort in question is in question. In my memory at least. The scarcity may be of some concern however, considering the circulation numbers of Decanter. Shhhhh I say :)

Re: Seppelt Mount Rufus Vintage Tawny

HI,

This bottle wouldn't be worth much more than a tenner over in Australia. I doubt there is much data in the UK at auction but wouldn't expect much more. Much better to drink this one.

cheers

Re: New port barrel help

With respect to the question asked by the OP, check out the Auswine forum. If you mean forum.auswine.com.au , I can’t see the thread. Please post a link, ideally from each to the other. I have cut out the middleman and shall link to the advice mentioned in the Auswine forum thread. It is from the w...

Re: New port barrel help

Returned and Services League of Australia? There are a lot of Australian references to port barrels. Bingo! AKA "the arey". Haven't heard it called "the rissole" but apparently another moniker. There is usually one in most towns and suburbs. These days many are plastic casinos f...

Re: Your first vintage port(s)

First vintage port style would be a 1982 Seppelt back in 1997 or 1998. This sparked an in interest in the style. The first Portuguese was the current release unfiltered Warre LBV on our first visit to the UK in 2005, closely followed by the 1987 Warre Quinta da Cavadinha 1987. The first true VP was ...

You forgot the port, surely we can have some creature comforts post-apocalypse?

The location being undisclosed is partially correct as I have yet to mention it here. Yet my wife knows.
