Just realised this is now 6 days away - we'd better order some food. Please confirm your requirements from the menu.
Julian, Alex, Ian, Charles, feel free to simply say "same as for Tuesday the 21st" if that is convenient!

Also decanted, at 0700. A slight worry about the nose, possibly corked. Backup bottle packed, which can be popped and poured if necessary.

I have a two-thirds full bottle of something that was decanted at the weekend that will also be making an appearance, so one of those dagger places will be occupied.

Re: It's just not cricket
Veering back momentarily to the cricket, I see they've dropped Haddin and will have a novice keeping wicket. The heavy, humid conditions in London at present surely favour us as well. I feel calm and confident. Derek, any predictions, since your barometer is so finely calibrated at present? Winning...

The food order seems to be complete † . On Thursday it will be conveyed to the hostelry. † Careful checking by somebody would be welcome. On which subject, I have informed the B&F of the spelling error in the menu. The only error I can see is the missed opportunity to retain the egg in Ian"...

Re: It's just not cricket
Agree with all of that, Owen. I get the sense this Aussie team might just crumble. Starc has a bad injury, Clarke's back is unlikely to survive five tests, Johnson looks timid, Lyon is alright but no match winner, Watson is suspect, Warner not on fire. Smith could be dangerous though. Our boys just ...

Ballance is not good enough Bell out of sorts Root is solid Cook is finding form again just at the right time Buttler is in good shape We have a spinner ...

1998 Fonseca Guimaraens Panascal
Decanted 1 hour. 80% opacity, cloudy, mature dusty red-brown. Nose of stewed red fruit, strawberry, also with some spices. In the mouth, big fruit, sweetness, chocolate, with some very gentle smooth tannins towards the end. Not much by way of acidity and so lacks a solid structure - a little flabby....
