Re: 1980 Ferreira
http://www.jdawiseman.com/ftlop/20080929_ferreira_colours.gif 1980 Ferreira : Brown with remnants of red. Richer nose than the ’75, but still much sugar. To taste less caramel and much more heat at start. Less good finish. Still very long. 7/6. http://www.jdawiseman.com/ftlop/20080929_ferreira_1980...

http://www.jdawiseman.com/ftlop/20080929_ferreira_colours.gif 1975 Ferreira : very translucent. Light brown. looks old. A bual nose, with caramel and no fruit. Taste as nose, but a silken mouthfeel. Very long caramel. Oily lychee-texture mouthfeel. My best ever ’75. Uncle Tom score 8/6. http://www....

Can you work from a picture of a bottle, uneven foreshortening and all? If yes, perhaps some of the following would help: 20080929_ferreira_1980.gif ; 20080929_ferreira_1994.gif ; 20080929_ferreira_colours.gif ; 20080929_ferreira_lbv_2000.gif ; 20080929_seixo_1983.gif ; 20080929_ferreira_1975.gif ; ...

Re: The Reference forum: comments and suggestions
The Reference section will hopefully grow into a substantial array of threads containing or linking to useful information. Perhaps we should be creating a thread at the top of this section which indexes and links to each topic in some sort of logical order? Only when there are so many threads that ...

Re: ThePortForum cufflinks and lapel pins
When enough sets have been sold such that costs have been recovered, subsequent sales will go towards subsidising port at :tpf: tastings I attend. A noble cause, I’m sure you agree. My costs have now been recovered. Further sales, whether by me or by the holder of the UK-located inventory, DRT , wi...

Re: Stay Me With Flagons: Corrections and Comments
For some reason, I can't find the original posting that I made. Administrators, did you take it down? No, I promoted it to the brand new Reference forum. BTW, the first post in this thread is copied from the wrong place. And thank-you for typing the text: good port does slither down rather nicely.

Re: 1927 Taylor (originally a mystery bottle)
Thanks Tom — thread re-titled. 1927 Taylor (originally a mystery bottle) : Orange-hue pale tawny, nosing hot, and of sugar. Did I detect orange? Not sure. A nasty vegetable cloying sensation in the back of the throat. Late in the evening the back-palate found coffee. Not good, and definitely not Co...

Re: The Cockburn Vertical, Wed 8th October 2008
A deep vertical of Cockburn’s, described Cockburn’s Director Miguel Côrte-Real as better than any he had seen in three decades at the company. Because of CG’s unavailability in the afternoon, the younger vintages were sampled whilst the sun was up, the older ones in the evening. And it really was...

2007 Cockburn cask sample (Touriga Franca): purple colour, of course. Big flowers! Much hotter than the Touriga Nacional cask sample. Big violets too.

Re: 2003 Cockburn
2003 Cockburn: very purple red, and nosing of young black cherry. Rather light for an ’03. Is that caused by the high proportion of Tinto Cão grape?

Re: 1950 Cockburn
1950 Cockburn: “another pale red†. Smelling of aniseed, and then faint cherry. In the mouth lots of very soft cherry. Lighter than most older vintages. MC-R found “eucalyptus†.
