Speaking of which, if this doesn't happen in the next few days, which doesn't appear practical, it'll have to wait until after the Off-Line. Sideways , Its a bit late in the day, but have you read the story of that Off-Line? Its an impressive Fonseca Vertical, and there's room for one more. It star...

Are newbie’s allowed to join in?

I am now the proud owner of 5 bottles of this particular port thanks to a recent supermarket clearance. I think I could learn quite a bit from this experience.

Not sure if this counts, but…. On holiday in Austria last year the hotel bar was offering Baileys for 12 euros a shot.

I stuck to Eggenberg and Grüner Veltliner. I also enjoyed some wonderful Reisling.

Just a suggestion...

I think this site could do with a 'Port Information' section, History, Winemaking Process, Producers, News, Vintage Guide, info on other fortified wines.... This kind of information is very helpful to people who are just getting into port such as me. yes, I know, I could buy a book, infact I have se...

Of the on-line community, there is only one person who openly presents himself as an expert. His knowledge, while extensive in certain areas, is notably lacking in others - we don't often mention him here.. Tom A troll through previous posts unearthed a review for this site on infoportwine.c...

£5? wow, I thought I had found a bargain.

What are your thoughts on the '95?

I was wondering whether I should go back a mop-up the remaining few bottles before they disappear.

Port 'experts'.

Who are the recognised authoritarians on port? (or authorities).

The wine world has Jancis, Parker, Johnson, Spurrier etc., their knowledge is wide and varied but are there any writers / commentators out there who specialise on port?

Links to their websites (if allowed) would be appreciated.

In my defence, it was in the bin-end section for a fiver :P

At Supermarket availability level, have you tried the Otima 10yr old Tawny. Alan Yep, last summer Somerfield had a 'massive wine sale' and I found a shelf full of the Optima 10yo Tawny for £5 a go, I still have two bottles left. I told you I like a bargain! Although I enjoy the optima (lightl...

Warre's Traditional LBV '92 & '95

Hi folks, newbie here  I popped down to Tesco at the weekend to see if I could benefit from their current wine revamp and pick up the odd bargain. In the port section I honed in on the Warre's and was delighted to find they had discontinued the Traditional LBV, it was reduced to £7.90 I made o...
