Re: 2004 Graham's Malvedos

very dry for a Malvedos, but with a very long aftertaste, very straight but a little bit light in comparison to 2003. I did quite like this port.

Re: 2008 Graham's Malvedos (w.i.p. cask sample)

this is one of the best young ports I ever tasted: very delicous with its violetts and a very long aftertaste. Hopefully this will be the final blend.

1983 Quarles Harris

very nice smell on the cork, promissing. dark red color. +2 h: what is this? no nose, very acidic, but a fantastic body. This one needs a lot of time. +10 h: now it smells like very good port. Very nice fruit in the nose, smells too young for me. Very strong body with a long aftertaste. the fruit is...

Re: Graham's Malvedos Vertical - London, 22nd Mar 2010

Jacob, thank you very much for the fantastic organisation. For me, this was the first time that we did not have to discuss about smelly glasses or other smell sources in the RAF club. This tasting was just as enjoyable as the line-up was. So the portwines were just gorgeous and could be tasted with ...

Re: Off Alcohol

Hi Axel, I am also not drinking any alcohol since the first week of january after heavy consumption of port and other spirits with Wolfgang (WS1), e.g. taking a New Years day walk with a bottle of Croft da Roeda 1980 as provision and so on (We took even port glasses with us :D ). I will be without a...

Re: 1982 Niepoort Vintage Port

Nose: light nose
taste: balanced. I noted also, that this should be a good port to go with Stilton.

48 hours later this port showed a little bit strange and light.

Nose: very nicy fruity nose
Taste: the port starts to develop from the youth to a more matured port and will be very nice in a few years

This will be a port for fun-drinking in about 3 years and on.

I would not compare it to the noval 03 because the noval has more wild fruit and the niepoort has a more tanninic fruit

Re: 2005 Niepoort Vintage Port

This port has a very nice colour and a vey deep nose. Taste: tanninic and you can chew it. There a hint of acidity in the taste which helps the fruit to develop in the mouth. The aftertaste is extremly long. After retasting it 48 hours later, the port seemed a little more lighter. I can not say how ...
