Great price. Have you said where from? I did re-read the thread, but may have missed it.

Re: Bottle Shock

For wines just shipped via boat, then trucked to my house or local wines store, I prefer at least six months. I've found the extended time on a boat really seems to hammer the wine and it takes some time to recover. The same goes for wines that are just bottled and suffer from Bottling Shock. As th...

For a Computer half-wit like myself, what stage are we up to? Any estimated time-scale, or is it just when a few of you get round to it (Which I completely understand)

Although I have not had this port yet I would venture to say 20 year minimum; 50-100 probably more like it. Taylor's age well. You got one heck of a deal at that price! I don't think it is going to make even 50 years - certainly not from now and very unlikely even 2045! I want to be in a fit state ...

I think it's about time we had a new book based on some investigative journalism. A good throaty tale of what the bloody hell goes on in the IVDP. Insights into how the big companies are buying up all the independents. The tale of the underpaid worker. A few examples of dodgy dealing and Cartels. I'...

Do you think we should have a system where we 'flag' when someone here is bidding. I dont mind backing off if someone says they are after it. We'd be a Cartel, that from would stop a few unnecessary price hikes. It would all be on trust, and un-policable, but I'd honour it, and hopefully benefit fro...

You're right of course, but whats a low bid for a bottle of dishwater?

I'll keep an eye on it, but I'd have loved the Grahams.

Yes, but thats got problems. It says re-bottling on the bottle. But It doesn't seem to give any clues of how, when, why, etc.

That would be an adventurous punt.

Julian,

apologies  , upon re-reading, I realise how my post sounds. I wasn't on about ancient drinks, like your T20. I was thinking more about 50's and 60's, etc. Drinks that are old (In years) but in their prime.

The Fun of E-Bay

As this is not an usual experience, and apologies if you all know about this, but I like occasionally bidding on Ebay, and I thought I may share my failures. A few days ago there was a Grahams 55 hovering around £50 with 5 minutes to go. I find I never win such items, as I'm only interested in barga...

Correct Decanting Time v A Few Days Later?

Just a thought. If you have a great and special old Port, you presumably hope to drink most of it at its prime. There is definitely a window, some hours after its open, when the complicated structure, and full sensual taste is at its height. However, and its just a personal opinion, I dont think the...

At £18.50 per glass, I was tempted to order a glass of Warre's 1977 Vintage Port in the Vintage Wine Bar in Dubai last weekend. Not cheap of course, but not overly expensive for Middle Eastern standards either. But I was clever enough to ask how long the bottle has been open. "Oh, only about a...
