Who Owns Whom

There are a number of books and texts which identify the ownership of various quintas and port shippers. It would be a useful reference post to collect all of the odd references together into a single - and continually updated - item. Alves de Sousa - ships under the name "Alves de Sousa";...

Re: One quiz at a time

OK. Given that I appear to have killed this thread off, I will revert back to my orginal question and fend off DRT's attempts to ask searching questions next time he and I share a glass or two of port. So my original question is: "What is the port-rerlated book which I am currently reading?&quo...

Re: December 17th - TPF Christmas 2009 Offline

There are many things that I like about living in Oman. Being able to sit outside at nearly midnight reading this post is just one of them. But there are a couple of things that are not so great. And not being able to attend the TPF Christmas offline is certainly one of the things I dread most. Don...

That's cheating. You have to play the game or this will be a very short quiz and you'll be asking the question again soon.

Re: Glasses: what to buy; where to buy?

I have just ordered, for Selwyn College , 72 of the INAO glasses from Winebox . Cost each: £1.15+VAT = £1.32¼ ≈ $2.19. Possibly the cheapest source anywhere. They also sell, for a mere £9.73+VAT, storage boxes: Glass Storage Crate - Height 190mm (35 cells) . Have you seen these glasses yet? I woul...

Re: One quiz at a time

Since no-one has yet suggested an answer, I have decided to change the question. This is one which Derek and Tom have already had a go at, but which is a bit of fun anyway. There follows three statements about me. Two are false and one is true. You task, should you choose to accept it, is to decide ...

Re: Drumming up some interest in NY

Whenever AHB wishes to grace us with his presence, we shall have a vesuvio vertical. I deeply regret that this is likely to be sometime later, rather than sooner. There is a possibility that I will need to visit Columbus OH once or twice in 2010, but dates (and real need) are yet to be decided. How...

Re: October 2010 - A Diagonal Repeated

My weekends tend to be dedicated to family duties and Saturday tastings do not work well for me. As the lead organiser for the event, I am seizing executive powers and changing the date to be Friday October 15th 2010 at the Crusting Pipe, London. In the meantime, could those who have volunteered the...

Re: One quiz at a time

October was rather a modestly busy port acquiring month for me - what volume of port did I acquire? (To the nearest 1cl.) 11,925? DRT is up Maybe I am a simple fellow of ascetic nature, but for the Wiseman household acquiring 159 bottles = 13¼ cases in one month would be more than ‟modestly busy”...

Re: October 2010 - A Diagonal Repeated

Given the overwhelming positive response to this tasting, if there is a substantial number of extra people who would like to attend - say at least another 10 - then I would be quite prepared to organise a larger tasting and have 2 bottles of each wine to pour.
