Re: Monday 25th July - Bring a Port from 1960–1970
Julian - can we incorporate onto the tasting mat or the tasting notes sheet each person's food order? Then each person will know what they ordered and I won't need to shout at everyone to remind them. Such a simple idea… astonishing it has not been thought of before in the hundreds of sittings the ...

Re: Port for sale by retailer
Will try and dig out my note, but I enjoyed one of these last year and was very impressed both for drinking then and the potential to age.

This is not a drill. Graham's Crusted (think it's 2013) for £10/bottle or £9 with subscribe and save on amazon. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01H0H0ULY?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&tag=pepperugc03-21&ascsubtag=2369730086 If you can’t get the Amazon deal… Sainsbury’s have it on offer again for the 201...

Re: 1997s, B&F, Tue 24 May 2022
I agree that our 6pt system (noting that in addition to 3-2-1 we allow assignment of points any way you like subject to max 3pt for any one wine, and minimum resolution of half-points) works well to provide an indication of the generally preferred wine; and indeed, that is what we are asking it to ...

Re: 2020 Declarations
The 2020 Bonfim is destined exclusively for the Danish Market I think something similar happened with the 1972 vintage with the General Dow release being widely available but the Bonfim just Scandinavia and that possibly being just Denmark. Maybe Julian’s Second edition will be able to confirm thes...

Re: Announcement topic ‘Information About Port’
I think it is useful so would vote to keep. I do wonder if it could be ‘rolled’ into the press releases and announcements thread as an all encompassing reference thread. This could also have the threads as to which shippers/producers have declared each year and lots of other oddities such as cleanin...

Niepoort Falklands 40th anniversary bottle
Perhaps should be under port for sale by retailer, but I thought it was interesting enough for its own post. https://www.farehamwinecellar.co.uk/product/falkland-islands-40th-anniversary-port/?utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Falkland%20Islands%2040th%20Anniversary%20Port%20Niepoort%20Vinhos&ut...

Re: Latest buy
I think the green box is the old packaging for the Graham Crusted. I seem to remember being in Booth’s many years ago and buying Graham 2002 Crusted in those green boxes. I think the old green box was in use right up until the 2013 Crusted release in the last 2 years. which must have a split run to...

Re: Vargellas Tasting, Date TBC in mid-2023
Would love to be at this one if the date can be fixed early enough or works for me depending on B&B. I can definitely offer the 2002 and will check but think I also have another from around that period. I also have a 1969 which I had earmarked for something but could be persuaded if it was not a...

Re: Port for sale by retailer
My Sainsbury’s has Grahams 2013 Crusted reduced to £13 and their 2012 TTD VP for £15. I have tasted the Crusted and it is very good and I hope will mature well with some mid-term ageing. At £13 it is worth a purchase or six!

Regrettably I need to withdraw from this tasting. Hopefully a reserve is primed and ready to go and maybe Tony can provide the SWH so that gap would be filled. I hope it is as good a tasting as I am sure it will be.

Tony, Simon, Dia - please confirm attendance (or otherwise). Would like to now firm up the bottles. Sorry… had Missed this post. When it was made I was all good but may now have an issue with attending. Very much hope that won’t be the case as 1997 is a vintage I really like and I think is underrat...

Re: Emergency, Tue 26 April 2022
Apologies for the late notification but I will have to withdraw from this tasting; as I have thankfully remembered in time that it's my wedding anniversary and that it might be a little imprudent to attend a Port tasting on this evening! Genius! That made me belly laugh out loud… and then I had to ...
