For the newer vintages I could contribute 94, 97, 2000 or 2003 as well if wanted.

As Germany is a third world country the only elder Cockburns I have in mind is the 55 which is most probably be possible to acquire. I ll get back soon, but any hints where to find elder trustworthy Cockburns somewhere near London would be excellent.

I went to pilot training in the UK and was crewed with a british flight lieutenant for a couple of weeks, so I think Im pretty much aware of what it means to drink with the british. Anyways: my aim is to be able to write something down that somebody is capable of identifying the next morning until t...

I will try then. But I let AHB get to your father in the good hope that I will get a sip of it, too.

Are you sure that you wont be there?

Alex, is the 08th of October confirmed. I would like to hop in although the eldest Cockburn I own is a 70 and I do not own a single 08.

I would rather go for a Cockburn-Vertical. Should I try to get a 77?

When will you decide?

My three lesser known favorites in 2005 are:

Quinta Seara d'Ordens - lovely
Quinta das Carvalhas (Royal Oporto/ Real Companhia Velha) - good backbone
Messias - fruit cake

Interesting experiment. Im collecting aged Tawnies bottled some decades ago to see if it really is true that they loose their "spirit" over the years. Some years ago I had a 20y old Noval bottled in the 70s which was awesome.

So more later....

on Ryanair it is 10 ┚¬ for every extra kg you are checking in. I just paid 50 ┚¬ on the way back from the essencia do vinho in March.

You are right - as always. The 80 VPs are - besides Grahams, Taylors (in Munich with you) and Warre - new to me, too, so it will be an awful lot of fun tasting them with all of you. Is your wife there as well and will she throw us out, when we are starting to sing nasty songs later in the evening? A...

As Derek is going to the holy land on the weekend I tried to get him equiped with some Cask Samples of the VP 07. At least Niepoort and La Rosa (maybe Pintas and Passadouro as well). We should plan them in when they are confirmed, too. Julian: You have never been to either of the cities in the holy ...

Roys new homepage

Gents,

for all of you who are not getting Roys mail: he redesigned and relaunched his homepage.

It is definitely worth looking at. I think he did a fantastic job:

Back to the point guys. Because of the fact that 06 does not seem to be a superb vintage anyway I dont want to spoil my last bit of hope imagining that some nasty british-american feet, who were not washed a lot during this tour beforehand left their mark in the wine as well :) Portal is declaring a...

Mmm. I rather like the Vesuvio 2005 at the moment, it is rather delicious. Sadly, the others who tried this with me were not so taken.

Alex: I love the 05 Vesuvio and if you are ever in need of getting someone to drink a bottle with you, give me a call.

Conky,

I sent a mail to all the companies I know and they are responing. I rather like to rely on first hand info when doing these things.

Derek: Sogrape (i.e. Sandemann, Ferreira and Offley) will not declare a VP in 06.

The Symingtons are going for the following: Vesuvio, Sra. da Ribeira, Malvedos, Bomfim and Cavadinha.

Vesuvio and Sra. da Ribeira will be on the market soon, the others will be withheld.
