Re: It's just not cricket

Agree with all of that, Owen. I get the sense this Aussie team might just crumble. Starc has a bad injury, Clarke's back is unlikely to survive five tests, Johnson looks timid, Lyon is alright but no match winner, Watson is suspect, Warner not on fire. Smith could be dangerous though. Our boys just ...

Re: It's just not cricket

What did we learn from the NZ series? Stokes can stay! Wood looks like a raw talent that could be refined - not unlike Jimmy in the early days... Ballance is not good enough Bell out of sorts Root is solid Cook is finding form again just at the right time Buttler is in good shape We have a spinner ...

1998 Fonseca Guimaraens Panascal

Decanted 1 hour. 80% opacity, cloudy, mature dusty red-brown. Nose of stewed red fruit, strawberry, also with some spices. In the mouth, big fruit, sweetness, chocolate, with some very gentle smooth tannins towards the end. Not much by way of acidity and so lacks a solid structure - a little flabby....

Where blind is done, I favour earlier rather than later reveal, where possible. This is a big learning from the tasting. It would have been much better to force a quick rush towards a guess on "what is it", even with that being a little rushed, and then having more time to taste and rate ...

Some totalling by Mike, though of what nobody knows. http://www.jdawiseman.com/2015/20150617_totals.png This sheet is the vital evidence for judging the hypothesis on the sweet-spot vintages! The hypothesis was that the 66, 70 and 77 vintages are all currently in a very good place, and in fact migh...

G70 (unknown English bottler, pesky rubber capsule) double decanted at noon and now at B&F. There's also an unopened backup G70 (Oporto bottled, looks like it was shipped in 90s / 2000s) if that bottle proves to be faulty or uninspiring with air - feel free to use discretion on set-up. Plus a b...
