Re: When does an Off-line become a Tasting?
Fear not! The car is packed and the road is clear - this thing is definitely happening!! :D Great news! :D Just remembered the quote out of the Blues Brothers movie when Elwood said "You see, we're on a mission from God." Have a good journey and see you in London Tuesday afternoon when yo...

if still possible I also would like to attend. Will bring the Niepoort 1960 if this is OK. Wolfgang, I must warn you that this event has all the signs of turning into a Tasting  Yep, you are right, this goes straight into a tasting. In this case I do not mind since it is Tom's birthday,...

Re: 1980 Taylor
Chris, Julian,
I had recently also a very good bt Taylor 1980 at the Crusting pipe. This was their house vintage port after the Chruchill 1983 did not work out. They must had not a lot of bts since now the Port on offer is the Sandemann 1982.

Re: When does an Off-line become a Tasting?
I agree with everything that Ben said. I also acknowledge Wolfgang's concerns about the risks of too many of these events being too serious. At this point in time I just hope that the tasting that sparked this conversation actually happens. When I opened the curtains this morning I was surprised to...

Re: When does an Off-line become a Tasting?
Oh my god, what has my statement let to. Indeed I like when we get together in the small boardroom in the crustig pipe and drink Port together. Also when we did our 2007 cask sample tasting it was good company, straight forward, without complications and a bit too much Port (at least for me) :( or :...

Re: 23rdFebruary offline @ The New Cavendish Club - Vesuvio
Hmmm, when talking to Kevin about the tasting we feel that this tasting can no longer be called an "offline" tasting. We should upgrade this to a full tasting and attempt to organise a another true offline as we wanted in the beginning  :nirvana:  Please describe the difference...

Indeed! Also you will find that in the US/America you would get by by using those :) For history and tradition it makes sense to use these old weight measures. But as you also found out yourself most of the history (power and glory!) has been lost in the memory of the people who live in the p...

Re: Who Needs To Detox?
Hi there, why we are not using g and kg? This would resolve the issue I think. I am not really doing Detox at the moment. Had lost though ~2kg over last week because I was driving to Germany in very wintery conditions  and therefore not drinking a lot. Otherwise if I stay out of the cra...

Hi Axel,
this was indeed a great event! Let us hope more of these will follow. The weather (snow!) was also being perfect to try some Port.

Hi Chris,
to remove the 1980 Taylor is fine by me. The wine is good but bot as good as Dow 1980, Grahams, Quarles Harris and Warre 1980.

Re: 1999 Lanson Noble Cuvee vintage champagne
Hi Alex, interesting champagne. Have not had very many 1999 vintage champagne but they seem to have an appeal i thought when most of them were released was overstated. They are very good indeed, despite the subtleness I noticed aside with a long aftertaste which is remarkable for the year. Lucky you...

Re: Feb 01 2010 Off-Line: 75s and Others at Crusting Pipe
Hi there, it was indeed a great evening. With regards to 75s vintage ports I think the only way to find out if they really are all below par is we need to do a horicontal of the ones we think are very good and compare with some typical kind of "Benchmark ports" (par). One of the bts that s...

Re: 23rdFebruary offline @ The Crusting Pipe - Vesuvio vertical.
Julian, Derek, despite its appeal 88) I think we should not do a full Vesuvio vertical (18bts). I am getting older and have to work the next day :( :crying: Alex, on the other hand would you not certainly agree we have to open all 18 bts if we had 18 participants? Another collegue of mine, Adam, wou...
