Don't think so, enjoying a bottle of Meantime Indian Pale Ale with my supper and the cork is branded!jdaw1 wrote:Decanted at noon, and not properly tasted then.
Is cork-branding that expensive?

Thanks for the update Oscar, hope it turns out to be a good year for Port. If for no other reason than my brother has his first baby and that is one more excuse to stash away some port

D0 brick red rim, crystal clear rich magenta with a figgy nose. Rewarding in the mouth, sweet fruit, caramel, spice and a surprising wallop of alcohol with a hint of acid. Great with Davistow mature cheddar! Nice port, not earth shattering but good and honest. D6 Spice and acid more subdued. Pallate...

Personally I am thinking Grahams, Vesuvio and Noval but I will probably buy a couple to keep the vertical and one or two to see what they are like.

Meantime Indian Pale Ale
Nice beer to have in summersome since at tastes good when chilled for an hour or so. Slightly sparkling, hoppy with citrus notes (watch out it is 7%+). Available in Waitrose in w.london. Apparently their porter is also a nice drop.

D0 - very dark magenta, impenetrable. Subdued nose, alcohol and savoury red fruit are there but masked a bit. Sweet fruit on the front of the pallate to start with, reminds me a little of a cherry cough sweet and then the alcohol follows through before a bitter sweet finish that is satisfying. Quite...

Re: 2007 Vintage Port Declarations - discussion
There are a number of 2007 prices appearing, most competitive so far appear to be Majestic and Uncorked (no idea whether allocations might be an issue), Halifax Wine mention single bottles at the top of their page which may interest some, others with offers (consolidated from above) Edencroft, Fine ...

Majestic (but not Lay & Wheeler?)

Re: 2007 Vintage Port Declarations
I am deeply flattered, but I would also recommend Roy's notes. I always find them useful. Derek and I will post notes on the 2007 ports we've tasted, but we are tasting each of them over a 4 day period to allow them to develop properly. Notes will probably start to appear in a couple of weeks - but...

Re: 2000 Quinta do Noval Silval VP
I don't have enough experience to tell if it will come together in time and really "sing". I get the impression it is young off the bat and even after 24 hours it is not what I would call balanced. It was cheap enough that I am not disappointed but it could be better.

T+24 A lot less spirity now, spicy pallate with a dollop of oak. Lengthening finish.

Re: 2000 Quinta do Noval Silval VP
T+3: I like the crimson colour, a little less spirity on the nose and quite a lot less spirity in the mouth than when popped. Fruit and spice now starting to be dominate in the finish. I like it but I suspect it will be a lot more balanced in the future.

2000 Quinta do Noval Silval VP
Just popped, out of storage in a UK ambient bonded warehouse. T0: Rich colour, quite "thick" looking (in the way port sometimes looks a little thick), slightly orange on the rim when swirled in the glass. Spirity nose subsides over 5-10 mins and red fruits start to dominate. Oak and tannin...

Re: 2007 Vintage Port Declarations - discussion
I laughed, Fine & Rare in the UK have put up GBP prices for some of the fladgate 2007's, assuming IB:
Skeffington 240
Croft 331
Fonseca 399
Taylor 414
No mixed case...yet...
Not sure if these are "speculative" prices.

Not sure if you noticed it on CT, as it's way at the bottom in small font and can be "hidden" if accidentally clicked. But it lists the total community holdings and then total bottles consumed by the community.

Re: 1977 Graham Vintage Porto - Tasted December, 2008
I enjoy the variety, drink some young, some old, some decanted and most not because I am lazy and leave the decanter by the sink for weeks causing marital debates! I find it fascinating to see the different evolutions. Thanks for the notes one of my brothers birth years so I try to drink these once ...
