They are indeed quite rare. I think we paid 200 Euros for this bottle, which I still think was a very good price.
Tsunami is a guy from Switserland who posts on the WineSpectator forums. The TNs of the Garrafeira were from an offline with him and the Roots' that lasted three days.

Here is my TN for the '52 - this one was bottled 1955, decanted 1984 and tasted in April 2004: Niepoort 1952 Garrafeira Port : lighter and more brown than the Graham's ’55. Nose: nice! Sweet for sure: molasses and caramel. Rich, very rich and full bodied. Sweet, with chocolate and prunes. Smooooooot...

2000 Kopke
Tasted 1-03: From half bottle. A struggle to open; my living room is now covered with small pieces of wax. A large cork for a half bottle, which oddly enough wasn’t branded with Kopke. Anyway, how does this baby taste? Very dark, almost purple heart, with a ruby rim. Nose opened up after an hour and...

Tasted 31.08.2004: Bought the day of the tasting and double decanted in the store I bought it from 3 hours before tasting it non-blind (for me, the Roots only knew it was a ’87 and not the Guimaraens or Kopke). Much darker than the Ferreira. Very dark, almost black, with only a bit of pink on the th...

1978 Fonseca Guimaraens Cruzeiro
1978 Fonseca Guimaraens Qta. d. Cruzeiro VP Tasted 17.10.2004: decanted some 4 hours in advance. Rather dark, but mature looking. Alcoholic on the nose, with a strong leather component and sweet red fruits. The medium to thick body also shows loads of leather, brown sugar and strawberry. Very hot a...
