Re: Buying LBV

Yes I am wondering myself, perhaps it may be I am coming down with something! I do though think that 10 years ago I really did not think there was much point buying LBV as you could source VP at not much of a premium. That premium has now massively increased so the discount of LBV to vintage has inc...

Buying LBV

Now some of you who have known me for a few years may be surprised to hear that I am interested in buying some LBV ! The only LBV’s I have today are some wonderful old ones from the 80’s. The reduction of supply of new vintages to reflect the market at present which is clearly really starting to rec...

Axel

Thank you for arranging a most excellent tasting, great admin! I really enjoyed being back at this venue which is very special.

The Fonseca 60 was fantastic and my wine of the night. It was a a shame to have so many flawed bottles but the excellent company more than made up for it.

Re: Warm-up for the BFT: Something nice from the 60s

I am afraid due to work issues I may not be able to make tonight. With apologies. I have my bottle decanted at office on london wall, is anyone in the area who could pick it up. Otherwise I will try and drop off later in the night but I am unlikely to be able to stay. Axel I will pay the full amount...

Re: The philosophy of drinking old port

Generally agree with Tom
Basically I like to get them out with friends who will appreciate them. Not making a big thing of it and enjoyed with some other interesting wines.

Staying at Quinta de la Rosa

I spent 3 nights in the Douro and for the first time stayed at Quinta de la Rosa. I thoroughly recommend it and will certainly be staying again. The rooms are excellent, all with views of the river. Comfortable beds and nice decor. Some of the rooms have two floors so you can leave all your wine out...

Re: Porto From London City

Civilised is the word! Left the office at 1 and got the flight out fine. Nice breakfast at Quinta de la Rosa - pick up by Manuel at 9 with plenty of time to catch the flight back and in the office for just after 3.
Full report of a long weekend in Porto and Pinhao to follow.
