A bit late (sorry for that) but I would like to thank everyone for this great evening!
I had a wonderful time with more VP's than I could dream of, delicious diner and good company.
It was great meeting you all.
Thanks again!

Hi Vicky! Don't worry about being a Port novice. When I found this place a year ago, I hardly knew the difference between a Ruby and a Tawny. I'm still learning every day. Don't be afraid to ask the wiseguys anything. I am so very much a Port novice! I just like to drink Port for the flavour ...

I like Cognac a lot too but for some reason never thought about buying a bottle myself.
A good friend of mine always has a bottle ready.
I enjoy it most right after diner, together with a cup of strong, hot coffee.
Sip of Cognac, sip of coffee.

:D Very excited about this.. from most shippers I haven't even had a VP yet! Question: what time are we expected? I'll be arriving in Utrecht around 6:30. That's at the train station. If someone needs a walk to Mr. Joost's place, I'd be happy to accompany you. I'm going past the Park Plaza hotel as ...

I'm back in Utrecht from work at around 7.
As this is my first offline, do I have to bring anything else along (except from a bottle and a happy mood)?

Ruddy, the label states that it was bottled by an English company (one that I have never heard of, BTW): 1970 was the last year that was possible. So yes, you do have 2 bottles of 70GC. Fill level on the left bottle is low though - what else was in the lot? Wow. That was the kind of knowledge I was...

How to be sure?

Recently I won my first auction bid. It was a mixed lot of 8 bottles with the price bottle being a Taylor's 1970 VP. I'm very happy with it (look > :D ) BUT. I didn't have time to go to the auction itself, so I first set eyes on the lot on the day of collecting. All bottle labels showed severe signs...

Taylor's Crusted

This weekend I got hold of a Taylor's Crusted (bottled in 1974).
Did some searching on the internet, but couldn't find anything on it, other than a mention on the FTLOP saying a Taylor's Crusted was somewhat of a rarity.
Does anyone here have any experience with it?

1991 Rozes LBV (unfiltered)

Bottled in 1997. Unfiltered. decant +2: Tiny amount of very fine sediment. Opaque with brick red rim. Atractive nose of mainly red berries, some red apple and a tiny amount of raisins and almond. On the palette again mainly red berries and a hint of marzipan. Long delicious aftertaste. No tannins. d...

Very interesting read. I'm a Desk Top Publisher by trade and I sometimes have to spend a day trying to find the precise typefont a certain text is composed in. Here's a nifty little helper if you're trying to find what typefont is used in a label (if you have a scanner, or grab a picture from the w...

I've got a great idea as well.
I'm going to drink that Warre's Warrior, but before I do I'll rinse the decanter with a Graham's VP.
Very thoroughly. :D

Thanks!

1985 Quinta da Romaneira

This is one of the bottles I acquired when I just got interested in Port. I clearly had no knowledge of long-term and mid-term yet. At the time I just thought that it was dead cheap for a VP this age. I see this as a beginners mistake which only helps in the learning process. I must say I build up q...
