Re: Poll: 1991 or 1992?
Tom, my experience is very very limited. I tasted 1992 Niepoort VP and 1991 Croft VP so far, both of course way too young. But in terms of QPR I'd say, that 1991 is clearly the more interesting year. One or two years ago, I purchased Croft 1991 at about 38 EUR and 1991 Graham's VP at 42,50 EUR. Soli...

Passito di Pantelleria
2006 Imeros Passito di Pantelleria DOC, Azienda Agricola Oddo, 14° Vol.
Golden yellow to amber. Intense nose of of dried abricots. Despite the sweetness vivid and fresh mouthfeeling. Intense liquid dried apricots with a long echo.
Impressive intensity but too one-dimensional to wow.

Tom,
thanks for your evaluation. Similar thoughts ended in my buying decision. Maybe my kind of 1991 Morgan VP in 10-20 years.

Re: Latest buy
Going to tuck any away to see how it is in 10 years? Yes, indeed. Although it's drinking nice now. Some bottles also for my Portwine-Bar I am planing to open in 10 years or so. I already had this Crusted last year. I find it to be more in style of a solid VP than of an LBV. At less than 8 EUR no he...

Symingtons and Coca Cola takeover, what do you think?
Funny economical crisis. Who would have ever thought that the Symington family would be able to take over Coca Cola? It's hawked, that Warren Buffet ( an american controlling shareholder of Coca Cola ) contrived this deal. I would assume the following background. Obvisiously there is very much econo...

Re: Riedel Bottle Cleaner
If you only want to afford some cents/pence: Heat some vinegar, put it into the decanter, add 2 envelopes of backing powder, soak it, pour it except some rest, add a soup spoon of (dry) rice, shake it- and smile.

1995 Niepoort Colheita (bottled 2006)
Bottled in 2006. We had this one on two days. Light ruby colour, looks pretty young. Nose did not give away much, a bit plum, toffee. Initially acceptable, elegant mouth feeling. But finish is quiet short and ends pretty simple on sugar. This Colheita lacks so much complexity. It was the third bottl...

Re: What to open for 1-year anniversary
I voted for the Colheita. A good Colheita should be fresh and elegant. Not the worst attributes for this day imo. And I do love to drink Colheitas especially in summer in a nice umbrageous place. However, have a nice day!

Re: 2003 Graham LBV
I've never been wowed by the Graham's LBV. I never understood its place between Six Grapes (decent ruby reserve) and Crusted (good glass of port and could easily replace the LBV). I can second Morton and Ronald. Graham's LBV is not one I would look for again. I found it to be boring too. On the oth...

Derek, if you are interested in a conditioning cabinet I can recommend the products from Liebherr. I have got the forerunner of the model WK 5700. Since 10 years my top wines shelve in it and I never had a problem. Price in Germany would be around 1150 EUR. Capacity is 231 bottles. Wattage is very r...

Re: Christmas Day port...
Alex, I find this example to be a very good (SQ)VP, but far from being mature. I would guess that this one is at least 10 years from being fully mature. If served to me blind, I never would have guessed it as a 13 years old Vintage Port. I would have said 2001 or 2004. + 5 hours: violet at the edge,...
