Assuming that the date works, I would be very interested in a sherry tasting.

I would have thought that "book of the same name" would be the proper phrasing.

Six bottles for four of us? I, for one, cannot handle that much port, although I would love to taste all six. I assume that Eric is bringing bottles so some of this is going home, unless the three of you are willing to drink all of it.

Should we ask Julian to make a reservation at Citron? I liked the atmosphere and food.

We are up to four confirmed with a possible fifth (Sean C). I can accommodate ten folks so there are six/five places left.

I cannot make any Wednesday evening, as I teach then. 14 Feb would work for me as would later dates.

New York February 14 1970 VP Tasting

If we do a 1970 tasting sometime in late winter-early spring 2008 (which I think would be interesting and for which I could supply all or most of the bottles, depending on what folks have), I would volunteer my home in Brooklyn, which is in the Carroll Gardens neighborhood and about a half-hour from...

Jan 3d sounds fine as does Julian's suggestion of just splitting the cost of the bottles. I agree that another venue would be fun but I can't recommend anything for next week. I admire Eric for coming on public transportation to Manhattan but I don't think I would do the reverse. If we do a 1970 tas...

I am completely confused. One night? Two nights? One night is plenty for me, especially as we are thinking of another tasting the next week.

The 27th works well for me. I am indifferent to the location. The advantage of Julian's offer is that we would avoid a hefty corkage fee. I don't know yet whether I will have a bottle to contribute (as it would have to travel from Ct) or whether I will be an adoptive parent. If there were interest a...

Of course it is Julian, not Lucian. Herein lies one of the dangers of consuming a bottle plus of port at one sitting.

What about the theme?

Tawnies? 1970 VPs?

It was decanted for 81/2 hours, at the short end for a 1994 as I assumed that it would be a lesser port than the other 1994s we were tasting. I am not sure that I would say "yuck" but it certainly was nothing to linger over. One curious thing was that the sediment included what looked like...
