still possible thats it is slightly corked, even if it doesn't outright smell corked. That doesn't sound right for an '83 GC.

I agree, this is a house that is vastly underrated for their VPs. Which I don't mind, as I can find them cheaper than just about everyone else here in the states.

Does anyone have a TN for either of these? If so, please post it to extend our currently alphabetically challenged index.

1853 Whitwhams King Pedro V Colheita Port

At Roy's 50th B-day party July 1, 2007 1853 Whitwham’s King Pedro V: Ok, lots of controversy was brought up about this wine, and I mean lots. The discussion was about weather this was really a Colheita from a single year or if it had been “freshened† up with a younger Colheita. It was so much darke...

www.wine-searcher.com reveals one retailer here who is advertising it at the ludicrous price of 69 Euro per bottle plus tax. Given that there is only one retailer showing up it is unlikely that they actually have any. I would be surprised if they release it early next year if 2007 is a general decl...

I have yet to hear of any Pre-arrival prices. But I would guess it will most likely be put out for sale early next year.

I am waiting for the 2006 Vesuvio, soley becuase my ugly toe-jam was knee deep in those grapes. So I will buy some just for the sentimental value. Normally i would agree with jdaw. Do the older first. but since we haev a lot of bottles are taking a nice break between flights, and becuase of what DRT mentioned about not wanting to spit the older ones, I too would rather do younger first, take a break, then relax the night away with the old ones.

Each bottle receives a different selo number. A major pain for producers to track and report back to the IVDP. Yes, you can get a sequential series of numbers if the bottles were from the same production line and packed in the same case at the end of the bottling line. But there is no such thing as ...

The numbers on the Selo only give basic info, like producer, vintage, and type. The Selo numbers are in no logical order. The IVDP gives a large stack, in numerical order to a producer, who then takes some off for todays bottling run of X Port. Then tomorrow he takes off some more for a bottling run...

Keep in mind that the Selo only guarantees that the contents of the bottle are from the demarcated Douro region, that is all. Older bottlings that were bottled by outside sources (BB&R, Army Navy, Etc) were not allowed to put the Selo on, as they were bottled outside of Portugal. So you will get...

Yes, we will most definitely raise a toast to the newest up-and-coming Port drinker, Little Ben. Wish we could do it in real time, but being 8 hours behind most of you will already be in bed by the time we start.

A shame a lot of people don't give Warre's the respect it deserves. I've always loved their house style and glad they sorta fly under the radar price wise.
