I don't think she can do worse than the Bush... I really like Bill, I don't mind if he gets into decisions... we can't say the same thing about Bush senior.

Anyway, her or anyone, it can't get worse in USA than it is atm.

The only positive aspect that the seal brings in my opinion is that Port and Douro bottles are easily spotted on the shelves when you see the seals.

When you have drink one Cruz, you know that the seal is not a garantee of quality or something like that

While having less alcohol, from brandy because in the end they have the same amount per volume, I do find that Infantado Port have much heat than others on the palate. Probably because the sweetness is covering this. I'm not a fan of the house, especially because VP have high tannins concentration a...

Getting in the spirit to go back to Portugal

Each year before going to Portugal, I organise a tasting with a few friends where I pour Portuguese wines and Port to spread the words. This year I was also the cook of a 7 course meal. Luckily I got some help that was greatly appreciated. As a welcome wine, I did serve the Saumur 2004, chateau Yvon...

I had a great uncle, now dead, that was blowing glass. He used to be making those sort of "Port pipe". It was mainly used for cognac back in the days. I don't know where the influence source comes from but I know that Montreal's wine accessory merchant are selling those a lot, they are alw...

The problem is that in the USA, there is 25% of loan that are considred high risk. For comparaison, in Canada it is only 5%. What happens now is that people can't give the money back for their loan and they struggle selling their house as a last act. I have a bad feeling about this situation where b...

I've tasted the 98 once. It was indeed very good and Bordeaux like. 98 is a lesser year in Napa and for me the beste wines came from that year, because they have acidity and freshness, too the fruit is not overipe. I don't know if it tastes similar in other years and I'd doubt it having taste some o...

Don't worry Derek , they'll just bottle It , and ship It to Québec , and sell It for $ 500.00 a bottle . Then some poor sap will buy It . . . Just read that the SAQ's net revenu for the last trimester was $ 1,6 million ! ! ! No wonder Québec is the worlds 4th largest market for premium Port . . . O...

The most consistent of doing so over the years has been Fonseca. Close of doing so is Dow's that release 2 SQVP when not releasing classic ...

The En primeur system is coming from the Bordeaux region that invented it in the 70's to counter the lack of founds to repair the vineyards and installation. You want to sell the wines earlier and cheaper than the market price so people are buying it. You get the money now for the wines you'll give ...

Well, just looking at Terra Feita at £15 per bottle, then adding tax and VAT puts it up beyond the retail price of the 1999s in Majestic (£17.99), so it's hardly run to the shippers time. As for halves at just under the price of bottles - no ta. Still it is 50% cheaper than Canada  I think I'...

NV Dow Tawny 20YO

Dow's 20 yr old tawny : First time I taste this Port. Amber tawny color with a slight hint of ruby. The nose is opening nicely on orange peal liquor, toffey and dried figs flavours. On the palate, not too sweet, the acidity is sharp, nice smooth mid palate on orange peal liquor, grilled nuts, dried...

Redoma Branco reserva 2004

Exhibiting a light golden color, this is has a pure expression of ripe pear, citrus, chalk, flint stone and some smokey flavours on the bouquet. It is precise and intense at the same time. On the palate, the wine shows the buttery texture of a chardonnay and the crispy acidity of a riesling though n...
