Re: Niepoort VV

If i can sell the bottles for that price, i will be happy. Otherwise i will keep them, and celebrate something great in my life. I don't think you'll ever find someone to buy at the kind of prices you are looking for. If Niepoort would pay anywhere near that; take it! Even at auction, you still hav...

Re: Bordeaux Recommendations

Consider some old Italian standby like Chianti (Monsato, Selvapiana, or Rufinon Ducale Reserva), Barbarossa, or Barolo. All wines with long aging potential and many deals to be found. Beyond that, there's always Musar, but prices are rising very quickly. Older vintages are become super rare and/or V...

Re: Is Port Kosher?

There are a few kosher ports on the market. I believe Quevedo has one, along with Taylor and few lesser known brands. The main thing is the spirit has to certified kosher. Kosher marker is a great opportunity for those producers who want to go after it. Jews like to drink, buy things in respect to h...

Very cool, been looking to do a similar thing with Dow LBV into a Demijohn; haven't found the right bottle yet.

2 - 1.8L's of 1963 Dow Used to have a couple of dozen of these, and just finished the last of mine over Christmas. A very pleasant drink. The cellar they are from is quite extraordinary. All of the port I have had from this cellar are the best examples of the vintages I have had. Basically these 63...

Given the source and the amount of time they'll be aging it before putting it on the market, I'm only half joking.

Re: 1985 & VA

Never having noticed this thread before I read it with the eagerness of a child. I have not had any difficulties with VA in the 85s but then again I have never tried the Croft or the Niepoort. I wonder if any of the earlier protagonists would care to update their findings with a few more years of e...

I am a fan of the IDVP glasses. Riedel glasses are too big and too fragile. Plus, I am too deep into IDVP glasses to change course. :)

Even the end of this bottle ain't too spirity. Big apple nose now. And where's the tasting note for the next bottle? I am still crying myself to sleep and I am tired of a pillow wet with tears. The spirit showed itself after 8 hours yet was smooth. I found this vintage a little on the flabby side. ...

Re: 1977 Graham

I just opened a bottle for tonight, it was imported locally to my locale in Boston. The initial pop and pour was actually quite sweet with much less heat than expected. Cork was really tight. Using the Durand was a mistake! Will be drinking the bottle in 8 hours over a friends' house. Leaving it in ...
