Don't you mean:

"I have already bought 6 bottles of South African Fortified Wine"

or

"I have already bought 6 bottles of that crap I made Derek drink last summer in Birmingham"

We seem to have an increased number of these - I killed 6 tonight, all created within a few minutes of each other. I have noticed an increased number over the past few days which, I assume, my lovely assistant Obi Wan has taken care of in my absence  I entirely agree woth the policy of deleting...

Re: Straight in

Earlier discussions suggest that attendees might bring along a bottle themselves by way of entrance fee. I could certainly do this (supposing I can find a missing vintage), but I respectfully suggest that increasing both attendees and the port lake will not reduce wastage. Could we come to some oth...

In years to come port enthusiasts will read of the time when a group of the worlds finest and tasters gathered together in a town call St Helens to tackle the greatest line-up of Fonseca's ever known 88)

Not Really an Offline

I will be in London on Tuesday and Wednesday nights next week, 24th and 25th July.

If anyone is around and would like to have dinner and share a modest bottle or two of port on one of those evenings please let me know.

A Sad Loss

It is with deep regret that I have to report the loss of a dear old friend of mine who has served me well for many years. At approximately 08:30 on Friday 22 July, after 5 days away from home, I left my hotel room in London and checked out of the hotel. I had a busy week at work and didn't give a th...

Re: Derek T.’s travel and glasses

Well, thank you for thinking of me. When you’re an hour from Manchester call Conky to find out whether my flight is horrendously late. If it is, invent a plan with him and leave a message on my UK mobile 07768 95 0123. Your number is now on my mobile and I will happily hatch a plan if required. If ...

jdaw,

I will be driving to St Helens from Edinburgh in the afternoon which is really the wrong time for me to pick you up at the airport, which I would have been delighted to do if the timing was right.

On glasses, I can supply at least 11. Not identical, but all are port glasses.

Re: I wasn’t there, but here’s my opinion anyway

I wasn’t there, but that won’t stop me giving my opinion of the evening. A great showing of people; many more than none of whom are much better than me at identifying ports blind (perhaps because my tastings are always sighted); a considerable quantity of port was consumed; resulting in some late-e...

The Port Forum Offline #1: Return of the Roots

I had the pleasure of sharing dinner and a few beers with Lord and Lady Roots on the evening after the Offline on 18th July 07. Here are my thoughts on the ports.... Croft 1950. 58 or 60 This was the last of 4 bottles I bought in 2003, all sold as Warre's 1966 and all outwardly identical, including the paint markings, cellar dust and foil capsule. The other 3 were fabulous wines, dark thick, fruity with branded corks confirm...
