Re: UK General Election results

Have left behind the canoe languishing in wake and Diesel smoke. Comparing the T35 to Andresen Colheita '82 (Bottled in 09). Appearance almost identical - the Taylor slightly darker in the centre. Both different but have the tawny style - I have to say the colheita does have the fuller and better ba...

Re: UK General Election results

It was a decisive result. Though i am now humbly sipping a sample of T35 on the Thames Clipper with a view of Big Ben striking midnight. :)

Re: May 5, 6 or 7

I declare that 3 of us (Mark, Chris and me) to be a sufficient number to make an offline. Any preference as to venue? Crusting Pipe at 6:30pm? Blind bottles or declared bottles with bottles to be of vintage port from the year when there was a general election in the UK? If Crusting Pipe is most con...

2004 Cockburn LBV

The Special Reserve put me off this brand, but this LBV is something very different (ie it's not disgusting) D+0 Dark ruby, almost opaque. Viscous, the tears have tannin showing in them. Powerful and sweet nose of blackberry. In the mouth it's a touch hot with a streak of acidity, plenty of tannin t...

Perhaps, then, a possible General Election theme (ie a Port from an election year) :?:
Overwhelming (97), Unlikely (92), Not for turning (83), Decimal (70) etc

6 x Andresen Colheita 1982 and A miniature (5.3cl) of Quinta do Infantado 1978 ! Ack, where did you find the mini? I'm working on my mini collection (having seen the quevedo video with Roy's lol) Just a random find on ebay! It's very pale and full of sediment, no idea if it'll be drinkable

NV Tesco Tawny 10YO (bottled 2009)

Bottled by Symington Family Estates, bottled 2009. Light translucent brown, slightly pink still through the centre. Swirling shows viscosity, and a rich and sweet nose with a nice dose of heat. In the mouth, a huge hit of sweetness backed up by a lovely acidity. Brown sugar, candied peel and raisins...

Warre's Warrior and Waitrose Victoria Sponge Cake. An excellent combination happened upon by chance last night. A lovely aftertaste of marzipan even though neither show this by themselves.

Re: Cleanskins

I've seen the ones on Virgin Wines and had good results too. I get the impression however that a lot of wines are sold relabelled with a quickly made up brand so as to avoid people being put off by a cleanskin style label.

Re: Home Brew!!

Tried making beer last year, using those cans and then later doing it from scratch. Unfortunately the complaints regarding the smell of brewing put paid to that idea! (And the beer turned out a little watery). More successful was the Bramble Brandy - about a pound of freshly picked blackberries, 150...

My regimen is a daily ride to and from work, 6.5 miles each way. It's also good for the alertness what with all the potholes, buses taking up all the road, black cabs doing u-turns, blind pedestrians etc.

It was on a Sainsbury's 25% deal. Yes, I thought it ought to much better bearing in mind the wines that make it up, though it had a rough tannic edge that needs a few years.

Alphabetical error?

You get a single note from 'N' in the middle of some 'D's. I'm assuming this isn't deliberate!

1 x Morgan LBV 1989 Now that is a new one to me! When do you plan to open it? I haven't decided yet, almost did it last week but opted for G77 instead. It's actually M&S BOB (and presumably filtered) but credits Morgan Bros. as the maker. Maybe it'll turn up at an offline  Or perhaps LBV ...

1977 Graham's

Inauspicious start; leaky cork and then it fell easily into the bottle! (Retrieved later using the plastic bag trick) Translucent, pale red fading to a hint of tawny on the edges. D+0 Warm nose, brown sugar, peel, almonds. Medium bodied, sweet, warm, watery feel in the mid palate, but quickly heat t...
