The Barwise corkscrew

Has anyone tried one of these Barwise corkscrews? I seem to have left my old Le Creuset / Screwpull behind me, and noticed that the old model has been discontinued (though I'm sure they're still available). I'm not daft enough to pay £125 for a Durand.

Re: April 2017 - 55@55 again?

The only 55 I have is a Butler Nephew, so it will be coming along too. I need to report a theft. Having reserved my BN55 for this tasting it seems that someone stole it from my cellar, took it to the Douro during this year's harvest and drunk it  I will need to adopt, please. The exemplary d...

Re: A little Belfast festivity

Congratulations on the new job 88) I am pleased to see that you and Justin had a pleasant evening. Presumably my invitation was lost in the post? Your invitation was returned with "Derek isn't allowed to come" written on the envelope… In your handwriting! Harsh. Yes I thought so too.

A little Belfast festivity

JustinK visited Belfast last night and we opened a modest selection of bottles. No tasting notes were written but we enjoyed all the wines: Dow 63, the lowest-ullaged bottle from a recently acquired small stash, in surprisingly good shape, I remember fine spirit and pepperiness, a little tannin.. Co...

I posted to say I couldn't go. Weeks back. It must be those pesky admins, randomly deleting posts again. I blame all that cheeky Vimto consumed while administrating. Damn censorship; I bet that I won't even be allowed to say Or maybe it was the fact that I attempted posting it while I was drinking ...

Sorry, I did attempt to post a few weeks ago that I couldn't make this - clashes with the last day of teaching unfortunately.

Can I just declare that the clear winner of the poll, with a massive 9% of votes, is 'In bed, at any time'.

That's democracy, people.

and I'm not even going to the Xmas tasting. You are currently still confirmed for a place at the Xmas tasting, so if you are able to attend then you could still make another TPF tasting this year. If you are no longer able however, please confirm in that thread. I posted to say I couldn't go. Weeks...

What time is it?

I know we're all ardent Remainers here - could this be why the Port Forum is an hour ahead of GMT? Are we using Central European Time? Was this decision taken in my absence? If so, well done.

Subject to other commitments, I am interested. I have only a W77 Mag (apart from the Ck77 that I don't think I want to open yet) and getting it from Belfast might not be the easiest so happy to adopt / contribute.

Port-based beverages

Hello everyone, Yes, yes, I know, it's been too long, and I've missed too much, I didn't organise the Gould Campbell tasting that I said I would organise a whole year ago, I've only been to one tasting this year, and I'm not even going to the Xmas tasting. But after a ridiculously busy (but very rew...

That looked extremely dull for quite a while. Thank God that, in a game between claret and port, the fortified wine won.

Since there were a variety of complaints about how Jeff did not show up, I will give him another chance, or perhaps give you another chance to meet him if he shows up. We will be having a massive wine gathering the weekend of Memorial Day including Sunday May 29 in my back yard. It will be a wine f...
